If I got it right, RDM stated that in the new series the space battles and manouvres won't cause any sound, because in space there is no sound and the new series should get a very realistic touch.
If that's the truth Universal is facing another problem. Every videogame based on the new series couldn't have any sound effects during the battles either, so the possible games must get even more boring then the whole miniseries will allready be...

It's just RDM'sway of slapping at the Fans, once more. Besides, with all the $$$ that saves, he an afford to hire more of his "talent".
BTW, RDM stands for "Really dumb, Muffit!"

The logic behind many of the creative decisions that RDM has brought to the remake thoroughly escapes me. It's as though he wants to create some moody, soft porn character drama in space and slap the Galactica name on it. I've read that RDM was supposedly in love with the themes presented in TOS. One of the primary themes of Galacitca is heroism: the struggle of brave souls against often overwhelming opposition. In TOS sound, from the stirring main theme to loud din of deep space battle, helped capture the heroic struggle and the immediacy of conflict. RDM may believe that he's captured some kind of cutting edge realism by keeping the battles silent, but I think they'll lose a lot of dramatic power. Truthfully, I imagine watching footage of someone's pet goldfish will be far more gripping.
