Work on the new Battlestar Galactica miniseries is proceeding, but some long time fans are not going to be happy. Actor Edward James Olmos (Commander Adama) told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that this incarnation of Battlestar Galactica is going to be different. "If you're a staunch purist, then you won't like it. . . . There's no two ways around it." Just to make sure that you didn't missunderstand, the actor added, "If I were a purist, I wouldn't watch it. Don't waste your time. Get the old version on DVD. Don't go through the pain." The comments are not really a surprise, a bit more blunt than I would have thought, but not surprising.

Emails to BG.com and BP.com are *livid* about these comments of Edward James Olmos's.

Frankly, I admire and thank him for being so candid.

I have never heard of a production that wanted to alienate a fanbase. Next Generation's olive branch was a 200 year old Admiral McCoy who passed along the torch. Olmos' coments are funny, "Don't hurt yourself."

Thats 137 years old Admiral McCoy to be exact. they also extended the olive branch three times more when Spock and his father turned up in TNG. Then finally Mr Scott.

Yeah i find Olmos comments candid as well. Maybe deep down he is a closet BG fan championing the DVD release of Battlestar wanting to get it himself.

[ Edward James Olmos: Ahh geez i sold my soul to be in this remade crap just so i could tell my fellow fans to get the DVD's of BG. Ah well, live and learn i guess. Hell i wish i could really play "Captain Gloval" in a Robotech adaptation instead hehehe ]
