Battlestar Galactica (TV): Edward James Olmos who plays the new Commander Adama spoke with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about the new version of the classic series and has a verdict for fans who've been crying foul so far - "If you're a staunch purist, then you won't like it. But if you're open to a new look at that situation, you might....There's no two ways around it. If I were a purist, I wouldn't watch it. Don't waste your time. Get the old version on DVD. Don't hurt yourself. Don't go through the pain". He also confirmed that in this version it's impossible to tell Cylons from humans - "which poses a tremendously difficult problem that's speaking directly to cloning, which we face in this world today". Finally, the very first pics from the new version of the series are up at Genre Online & 'Dr. Ravishol'.

At least he's honest about the "new look"

Nice to see someone be honest about things, but then why do it? If it's just for the money, then one is prostituting their talents for 30 ( or more ) pieces of silver.

Perhaps he was never a fan of the original show and so it doesn't matter to him. At least he understands how the fans of the original feel about this issue and is being honest about it.

Welcome to CF, Laura Elizabeth.

My opinion on this subject is the same as yours. Obviously, he was not a fan of the original. In fact, unconfirmed word is he helped push to get this travesty of the original made (I stress that is unconfirmed).

At least he was honest enough with us to make that statement.

But he's just the actor. His job, for which he is handsomely paid, is to recite the lines in as believable fashion as possible. His accepting the role indicates ONLY that he did not find the portrayal of his character personally offensive - and that he's not a fan of the original, because a true fan of the original would find the character's portrayal as offensive (at least somewhat so).

He's just the actor pursuing his craft.

The real enemy of TOS BSG are the three primary movers: Ronald D. ("MooreRon") Moore, Bonnie ("Broomstick") Hammer, and David ("Don't have a non-profane nickname yet") Eick.

'Nuff said.
