Does anybody know if marvel will be rereleasing them? I was in a comic shop and saw some of the newer ones where the characters didn't even look like the characters on tos.

The Marvel ones don't much either - they didn't have permission from Universal to actually use the 'images' of the actors - they could get close but they couldn't look exactly like them.

Some of the art in the Marvel series was seriously lacking - but I own all 23 of the spuds.

Glad you brought it up. Who does own the rights to Battlestar Galactica in comic book form right now? The Marvel BG comics were done by Walter Simonson who made his run on Marvel's "The Mighty Thor" comics in the 1980's a legendary rebirth.

I personally like the Maximum Press ones years later, cos Galactica debuted on the U.K. Sci-fi Channel back then. I didn't see it for years up until then. And watching the repeats along with a new comic was unbelievable.

the hard to get Realm press ones were good but dropped in quality, people hardly knew they were about so it's a sad tale on that one.

As of now WHO HAS THE COPYRIGHTS to BG comics?

Realm Press was the last one that I knew of but I believe Richard said they didn't have it anymore. I could be wrong though (wouldn't be the first time, won't be the last)

Maximum's early efforts were good, if predictable. They held well to the spirit of the series, and the character designs were good. Unfortunately, they then let Richard Hatch on board and afterwards went balmy with time travel.

Agreed Agelastus! Time travel has no place in Battlestar Galactica? To Star Trek's credit most of the ones they have done were interesting and presented well. Thats why Babylon 5 avoid time travel accept for the Babylon 4 story arc which was very inventive.

Maximum Press's Journey End storyline wasn't good and killed any possible stories "like their proposed summer 1997 Galactica story"

I beleive that I have read every Battlestar Galactica Comic ever published in the U.S.. (There were Battlestar Galactica comics printed in the U.K. in two annual albums. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get my hands on them.) I loved the Marvel run and consider it part of my personal chronology of the Galactica saga. The Maximum press series was enjoyable and had some interesting art and concepts. The Realm Press series had great art but an overly ambitious publishing schedule. They seemed to start new stories without resolving old ones. Also, instead of focusing on one series, they had two ore three different titles running at the same time. To confuse the matter, many of the comics had print runs with multiple covers. Sadly, no one is currently publishing Battlestar Galactica in comics form. I would love to see how Dark Horse Comics whould do with the title.
