View Full Version : Looking ahead at a worst-case scenario

Lets just pretend that the Moore remake does well and is a big hit on SCI-FI. Large ratings, new line of toys, breakfast cereal, etc., the whole 9 yards.
So what do we have left to discuss? Do we continue to talk about a 25+ year old show with a handful of quality episodes? Does this board turn into a remake bashing forum? Will we conspire in an attempt to put an end to the remake?
Just wondering what's left in our tank at the apparent end of the road!?

There are many boards where TOS Star Trek is discussed. Galactica will still live through us the fans.

I'm just not ready to think like that yet.
I guess I believed that old Churchill commencement speech:
"Never give up.
Never.
Never.
Never give up."
(give or take a "never give up" that was the entire speech.)

Exactly. Regardless of what happens with this so-called 'galactica', it will not dissuade us, or diminish our respect for ofr enjoyment of what is, really, the one and only true Galactica.

Well 3rdhuman, if the worst happens that's not going to stop us getting our fan movie off the ground! ;)

It's my intention, as a fellow fan, to have something to talk about regardless of whether or not the new BG series is a success or a failure.
And I'm talking about something dealing with the original series, not this remake.

I was not sure what direction everyone would go after the new show aired.

Just a thought...(and no, I haven't had too much ambrosia, at least I don't (hic) think so)...
Who has the rights for the Battlestar Pegasus?? I thought that I had read, in previous posts, that Glen Larson still has the rights to the Pegasus. I'm not sure, but anyway here's the idea.
As much as I love Galactica, if Moore is somehow the 'lucky blind dog that finds a bone' then, I suggest that we do a little 're-imagining' of our own.
Premise: The Galactica and rag-tag fleet would have been destroyed by a new-found enemy, many times stronger than the Cylons. This sinister enemy is more devious and cunning than the Imperious Leader and/or Count Iblis could ever be. This enemy is able to 're-write history'. Not even the beings from the Ship of Lights could stop them!!
That's where the Pegasus would enter the scene. It would now be the "last Battlestar", albeit without a rag-tag fleet to slow it down. It would be searching through the heavens for the remnants of the human race that may have survived this latest holocaust.
Apparently, re-writing history is deemed to be an acceptable form of storytelling in this day and age. SO, if we can't beat them and if we sure as H*** don't want to join them,........
then, let's have a little fun!!!

If it does well, then we will move on to Galactica 80 because Hollywood would end up re-imagining that into a continuation of the original.
A real one that is. :)
I guess we should have anticipated this from the start. LMAO

Wouldn't it be ironic if a fan-based CGI movie pulled in a golden globe or an Oscar nomination in some category.
