View Full Version : Picking Fights

After my recent Milton's Board experience I realized that one of the things I don't like is that there isn't a "safe" area for EVERYONE who wants to mouth off. Say the wrong thing about the production on the Sci-Fi Board and the mods there will get you. Say the wrong thing here and Hito and Michelle worry (rightfully so) that you'll start flame wars. Crosspost or pick a fight on Milton's board and you get the same thing (for the same valid reasons).

So, in my true expression of freedom of speech, I decided to put my money where my mouth is and start yet another board
at:

pub99.ezboard.com/bthecylonalliance .

Why? Well, I opted to create a place where those who do want to make attacks and "vent" can do so without making any mods "choose sides" or find offenders. A huge Neo complaint was that they needed a place to balance the board here (a counter-stronghold if you will). Now, I've made a truly neutral territory. Admittedly, it will probably soon be a nuclear wasteland, but at least it will be an evenly matched nuclear wasteland. Everybody gets the same fair shake there. You're on your own unless you violate the very, very few rules.

Trust me, you're really a creep if you do violate them.

Good deal! I hope you, ah, have fun!

Seriously- I don't mind people coming here to vent. What I mind is when the arguments get about the people, not the topic. I don't care if pople don't like or do like the new production. I don't like 'let's trash Milton', 'I hate those neos', 'those retros make me ill'... that kind of thing.

I also object when people come here *solely* for the purpose fo starting an argument to watch the fireworks. (I don't mean you in any of this, Sandy, btw.)

This board has a reputation as being a place where people can sensibly discuss their opinions without asbestos anything. I'd like to keep it that way. I wish you all the best with your board, and hope you'll still psot here for untoasted discussion.

"What makes this one different than the similar boards at www.BattlestarGalactica.com, Colonial Fleets, or the Sci-Fi Channel’s own board, just one thing. This isn’t a place for the timid or the young."

You mean you don't expect people to be civil and well-behaved like they are at the Sci-Fi boards? ;)

Think of it as one of those restraunts where the waiters are rude and you throw peanuts at each other all through the meal.

Thanks, but that's cool. I had my share of trauma and drama and hysterics modding OT at Renderosity. Now if it isn't bleeding and dying, I can't get up a good froth anymore. I've... mellowed! Eeek! Must be from hanging with a certain wise and serene dude I know. ;)

Artemis,

Hmmm. It should be the same as the other EZBoards. If you have a global account that should work right away. If you do a new account it sends a verification e-mail as I recall. Its always better to choose the global option.

Make sure to read the rules. Light abuse is encouraged.

I'll probablly be an observer but it might be nice to have a place to vent .... (hmm but its surprising actually all the on list flame wars I've been ahem involved with have been within the bsg fandom....)

BTW my handle there will be hands of words .....

I did a local account because I may want to use a different handle on other ezboards, don't want to make enemies that may follow me. I haven't gotten an email verification yet and when I tried to go through the sign up again it said my email was already in their system.

I already spend to much time at home/work with CF, the Sci-Fi Channels "freakshow", and the occassional post at BSGClub.com's forum. I didn't know what a Bboard was till I joined the fight against RDM Re-trashing of Battlestar Galactica.

Sandy because it's yours I may lurk, I hope I won't be sucked in. I was thinking about giving up Bboards entirely when the offical word comes down about the Moore project...you guys have my e-mail if I'm needed to fight.
