omega/athena/rigel

I have never figured out what the difference was in job responsiblities on the bridge for Omega, Athena and Rigel. I'm not talking about their ranks, I'm talking about what they were supposed to be doing in front of the computers.
At one point I thought they might have all had the same job, each just taking a different shift, but there were episodes when all three of them were there at the same time.

I think Omega was the 1st officer under Tigh who I relate to as being the XO.

Rigel & Athena did share a lot of the same station time (both launched vipers or helped pilots with in flight viper diagnostics, from what I recall). I think Athena had some communication & tactical duties (she was at a communications station in the Long Patrol deciphering the "unknown" Ariean merchant code, for instance. Rigel was used just to make running status reports to the commander. I would guess it would be considered a cross-trained bridge staff with the officers able to handle many of the tasks/task stations. Just ideas....

LOL! You're not lame, the charachters in your BSG were just "Starbuck", "People Starbuck talked to", and "Chicks who were after Starbuck, not like you have a chance in that outfit Miz SpaceThang, I don't *think* so..."

Omega seem to be an over all operations officer. Something like what Data did in star trek if you think about it.

Athena seemed to be a communications officer (ship-to-ship) and Rigel seemed to be a flight control officer (air traffic controller) of some sort.

Rigel was the "Launch when ready" girl on the bridge with the braids. She was played by Sarah Rush (who's even prettier now, not fair!) It's not your imagination: She was never addressed by name on the show, yet her character had a name.

Ok, Rigel was the girl with the braids. She was cute. AND she never chased after Starbuck.
