SkipperC, set thy VCR! or email me if you don't get this channel :)

Somebody posted on SciFi that they spotted RH on the TVLand Awards, closeup, early on.

Here's the rebroadcast schedule (ain't cable wonderful) and it's also worth having on tape for something Dick Van Dyke does at the end (runtime is 2.5hrs)

Look for closeup of Richard early on, Times are Eastern & Pacific

So far, I've watched only the first 30 minutes, and Richard sure looked good in that suit and tie!
As for the program itself, from what I've seen so far, except for those stupid dancers at the beginning, I've really enjoyed it. No bleeps, no bizarre clothes, no ugly hair (or lack of it), no piercings in weird places...
Some of the actors on the show are not as "pretty" as they used to be, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe they've realized that being perfect in appearance isn't important. Maybe they're not going out of their ways to look stunning, either for that reason, or maybe, because they're not in the business anymore, they can't afford it. But on the other hand, they all seem to be incredibly polite and friendly and happy to be there, and not being at all obnoxious or rude or arrogant.
This is the first awards program I've watched closely and seriously in yeaars, and it's probably because the people on it are much classier than anything I've seen in a long time!

The TV Land Awards Show was very uneven. Some of it was wonderful. I loved the opening sequence when the actors from various shows came out singing their theme songs. But some of it was awkward, or even stupid (such as the Michael Jackson interview parody).
But my question isn't about the segments; it's about the people in the audience who weren't presenters. Perhaps Michael or Michele know the answer. Since Richard was there, was Dirk invited? Were a lot of invitations sent out to many others who couldn't attend? Were there actors from the 60s, 70s and 80s in the audience that the camera didn't pan over?

Don Adams' appearance caused me some distress. Barbara Feldon was practically holding him up, and he seemed only vaguely aware of where he was.

I found James Doohan's appearance the most distressing. He's a game man though just for appearing, knowing all the trekkies/trekkers would want him there to be part of recieving that award for Trek.

It was interesting seeing the contrast of the young brood of Hollywood, presenting stuff to their role models at times and the graciousness of most of the older actors/actresses in participating in a slightly offbeat awards show. Vicky Lawrence's "Moma" tirade against reality TV was priceless.

How about Rob Reiner's Archie/Meathead skit? :D

Oh this was filled with really fun nostalgic moments.

And unlike others... I LIKED those dancing girls!!! :D:D:D

It was especially cool that they danced to the singing of old theme songs by the original singers!

I tuned in midway and caught the themes from Laverene and Shirley and Jeffersons and Mary Tyler Moore (I loved Mary throwing up the top hat at the end!). But what other themes did I miss before that?

Partridge family (Shirley Jones/David Cassidy), Dick Van Dyke (Dick sang), All in the Family (Sally & Rob), Gilligan's Island (original singers), Brady Bunch (the actors that were Marsha & Greg) can't remember who else.
