When Apollo and Sheba find Count Iblis on a red planet, Apollo sees a large ship that was probably crashed or destroyed. Apollo then says that it was a large ship. Was it an Battlestar?
I cant remember the name of the episode but it remained a mistery to me.

What exactly the ship was as been open to debate. Some people believe it was actually the Pegasus, and at the end of the episode when Apollo and Starbuck look in the ship they see Cain and don't want Sheba to see him. Others believe that to not be the case and there was some other reason why they felt Sheba shouldn't see what they found. The identity of the ship was never named but it was the size of a Battlestar.
It's a mystery.

Orrin_73 see if you can track down the novel of "War of the Gods" whats in there is revealed to the reader in there actually! It is number 7 in the original novel series of Battlestar Galactica books by Berkley's publishing years back.
If you didn't already know the footage of the revealation and answer was cut out. In fandom the answer to the crashed ship has a multitude of answers but there is only ONE sinister answer to the question posed. All in all a very clever episode, does seem that was what, we were meant to think during the episode that it tied up with Cain? but other scenes throughout the episode also point to the other clues.
Apollo: "He's one of them"
Adama: "or WAS" (i.e. Fallen from grace!)
Adama to Iblis "You told us your identity"
Adama "I don't believe in you Count Iblis neither did those poor souls in ship on the planet, they followed you and paid the price"

Hi Orrin_73,
My understanding was that the footage of what was inside the ship was cut out because it was deemed too much for family viewers. I believe there were the bodies of cloven-footed creatures inside and that was cut out. What the ship was would probably have been revealed too.
Hope this helps,

Muffit you could have been more subtle telling Orrin_73 the answer. i actually enjoyed the banter being more descriptive than flat out telling someone. It allowed Artemis and i to express the answer without getting to the big juicy part straight away.
Ah well surprise spoiled. Another question fandom has asked without getting any answers is does this most controversal footage still exist along with all cut or trimed footage from Battlestar Galactica?
Funny how the "Cloven Hoofs" and dead demons got cut out, but during an episode of "Space 1999". There was some frightening footage of a charred dead body in one of those Eagle ships!.
Hopefully one day we will be able to compare the footage to others cut deleted scene footage of such reputed "scare factor" and see for ourselves if it was really that scary for a family audience!

Apparently according to news i heard of the episode. There was also alternate footage shot were Sheba looked in and saw the Cloven Hoofs and screamed. Somebody said somewhere Anne Lockhart though the props were paper mache looking and not convincing enough?
This would or would not explain how long Iblis took to desend into the wrecked ship area from the hill top after he said "No, i forbid it". The episode had a huge badly cut scene where in the next shot he is suddenly before Apollo, Sheba and Starbuck.

It should be noted that, half of those scenes in the telemovie version of WOTG on that link, do not appear? I have the U.K. version of the telemovie does anyone know if the U.S. version is the same?

They have re-printed the original books in a new multi-book format, Battlestar Galactica Classic. They have only done the first 2 so far. If you are interested in buying vol. 7, War of the Gods, take a look in the used section of Amazon.com, I just saw one for < $6. Ebay also usually has them and used book stores.

If I remember correctly there was a version without that scene being cut. For some reason I remember Sheila demanding to see what was in there. Count Iblis tells her not too. She walks up looks inside and a brief picture of a cloven foot and goat-like leg are shown.
Or is my mind playing tricks on me again...

I remember her walking up but not getting to see anything and I don't remember ever getting to see anything. But my mind plays tricks too.
