Inspired by LOTR's how would you view a BG movie trilogy. Epic in scale with large sweeping battles, plenty set pieces, multi-storyarcs and alot of old and new characters in the trilogy to play with.

How would you set up a three movies back to back to back? i.e. plot of one is expanded in the first sequel then finished in the last. The Battlestar Galactica Universe has a huge canvas to work from. So if Universal exec off his or hers rocker came to you and said make me a movie out of the old series what would you do? We've all got fanboy ideas about a Galactica story to tell, i still have the second part to my long over due fanbased BG outline from early last year to tell!!!

If you could come up with an idea of the top of your heads, this is how it should be done.

- First Re-Introduction and solid plot, Beginning of journey, adventure with the characters and villains leads to a cliffhanger.

- Second, Continuation of plot and expansion on the overall storyarc, add more subplots, twists and turns in the story A.K.A. redherring etc.

- Third, Resolution of most arcs, closure of journey, loose story plot threads along with unsolved subplots for spinoffs and possible continuation of franchise in another story.

Beginning, middle and the end, what could be a epic enough of a story for the Galactica crew to end up on the big screen as a trilogy of movies. Or would you expand on the TV episodes al la Wrath of Khan style and make a trilogy of of the best two part episodes, "The Living Legend", "War of The Gods", "Lost Planet Of The Gods", "Gun On Ice Planet Zero".

Any thoughts.

Actually.... A trilogy would pan out pretty logically...

Episode I -- Essentially Saga of A Star World.. the buildup to the cylon attack, the holocaust, the Galactica's fight for survival.

Episode II-- Almost immediately after the first, the rag-tag fleet is formed. Perhaps at first they wander aimlessly, but eventually come in contact witht he beings of light who put them on the path to earth.

Episode III-- Whatever the obstacles, it ends with finding earth.

Well you could have Richard Hatch's three novels into a trilogy of movies "Armadgeddon" chapter 1, "Warhawk" chapter 2, "Resurrection" chapter 3 or adapt the Maximum Press comic book story "War of Eden" into a saga of movies.

I was thinking of this trilogy to follow on 25 years after the series. Thus we have a true revisiting of the old show on the big screen. On the Star Trek Wrath of Khan DVD there is an interesting documentary on the Star Trek universe and how fans, take apart little elements from the original episodes and turn them into stories. (which is what we do or any fan does?)

Example of this should be, any particular event in the original series. Battlestar fans will always think up 100.000 ways the Pegasus survived the destruction of two Cylon Baseships! Or how the wrecked ship ended up on the planet where they found Count Iblis (Note the planet was not really Red) we could as fans use the same thinking they used to bring in any of the characters or situations from BG to develop into a sereis of movies.

You do a storyarc on Croft and his rise through the ranks to Command his own ship in the fleet or on the flipside of things do a story on Wolfe's survival and escape on Arcta (GOIPZ) and what became of him. Little thing like that. What did Borellian Nomen Maga, Bora and Taba do after they escaped in Baltar's Escape! What happened to Gomoray after the fleet left did cain finally conquer it? All good ideas but then how do you combine them all to make an epic?
