I have tried to watch several episodes of Star Trek: Discovery now on CBS, but I am giving up. I was able to get through only two episodes in their entirety but was bored with the other ones.
The show is politically correct with lots of CGI but the characters are dull. It's not a good sign when I find the villains, who are pre-original Trek bad guy Klingons, more interesting than the humans and Vulcans.

Yup.
PCness is ruining everything.

Well, leave it to me to be the last one to show up at the party. It's not like I hadn't heard of ST: Discovery. I just hadn't taken the time to watch it, until now.

My wife and I have been watching it via On Demand, for the last couple of weeks and are most of the way through Season 2. All in all, it's been good. The only downside, for the geek in me, is seeing tech being used in a prequel setting, that is beyond what appeared in ST:TOS. It's not a show-stopper, though.

There are likeable characters - Tilly, Seru, Michael, Admiral Cornwall, Stammets, Sarek and Amanda are just a few that we like. The various story arcs have been good. Some of them have hit to the bone, especially Seru's sickness.

It was also fun seeing Jason Isaacs as a character other than Lucius Malfoy.

We have several more seasons to go, to catch up to the present. Hopefully, what is to come, will be as enjoyable as what we've seen.
