I have to say one of the big things that stop me from getting into the new show (among numerous) is the annoying acting of Kara Thrace's Katee Sackhoff. I know many liked her on the show, but for me her being on the screen is simply annoying. And why in "gritty" television does a strong female character also have to be completely F-ed up?

Thanks for silencing the annoyance.

Hi there.

I also wonder why, as an Angel she had problems. Ressurected with all her baggage. Abusive Mom trained her to be a "Warrior" you know. Nice destiny manipulating Entity. :thumbdown

Sorry, my rant.

ya know I gave up on trying to figure it out,
other than the cylons are human and made by man
the mini series is to me the best of the show.
The more I watched the more confused I would get.

IDK bout yall,

But my only final conclusion is that SIx and Baltar are like
Gabriel and Lucifer, and Starbuck is also a back up angel to keep god's plan in motion I guess,

I gave up, maybe there is an answer but it doesn't really matter now...

Got more wip updates on Rise 3..... I think I am getting better...

here see a short update, not whole vid, but most of what is new

Hi

I also think the mini was better than the series. I don't have a problem with reboots as long as you stay faithful to the concept and the characters. I have seen lots of reboots from batman, spiderman. Anime like Captain Harlock, Spacecruiser Yamoto, and Gundam. I can separate the mix as just different universes or timelines. If they really mess with it then it kinda spoils it.
Personally I found the new series too dark, and the characters are too different from TOS. Perhaps that was the intent though. But they lost me then. What really offended me was the so called entity that seemed to be there from the start. Starbucks Dad with the coordinates to Earth in the music. Also somehow mixed in with the cylons worship of a single god. Apparently guiding the destruction of the colonies to restart again on Our Earth. :?: I think they lost continuity with the scripts, as some stuff just doesn't flow.
I like the "even now, brothers of man fighting to survive" connection much better.
Despite the Mormon connection, I rather like the idea of an advance race helping the colonies. With a bit the prime directive in there.

Just some thoughts.
I enjoy watching your work. Keep it up.:salute:

LOL! Yeh that was kinda cool.

I was watching the video and I am all for the Colonials kicking Cylon tail, so I was puzzled on why they would do so well in the first half of the video, and then do so poorly the second half of the video?

But really really good film.

Silencing Katee's Starbuck was one of the things that made me stop watching...so, attempt succeeded.

Folks here only hate her because of the joke she cracked on The Lowdown. "Hi, I'm Katee Sackoff, and I play Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica. Deal with it." I took it as a joke. Nothing more. Nothing less. I'm amazed others could not.

Martok out.

Really? And here I thought I disliked her because of her over all snotty attitude towards TOS fans because she as playing a part that used to be a male part. Plus she was loud and obnoxious.

See... I have no problem with the Sharon character, who also was a part that used to be male. But she didn't exhibit that snotty attitude like Katy did.

People can make their own choices for whatever reason on liking or not liking particular characters from any show/movie. The Kara Thrace character is no exception.

Some people are bitter because other people choose NOT to like her.

Usually I am with you in your opinions, but this one is just far too broad a stroke for someone not liking a certain character. Sure her attitude/actions in interviews can be over the top and ridiculous, but honestly it was her character and portrayal that made me dislike her so much. As a character she was written as a completely unlikeable, dysfunctional human being. And I think it is a terrible representation on the part of Ron Moore that to show a woman as strong, she is also f-cked up beyond belief. And along with her character as written, I thought her acting was over the top and annoying. I know others love her character and portrayal, but for me when she was on screen it was hard to watch. And that is not because of some stupid comment made in some interview... I wouldn't judge a whole character and performance on one simple comment, good or bad.

So there we have it. She makes me cringe. She screeches, grits her teeth and bugs her eyes out and calls it drama. Obviously she doesn't make other cringe, and that is good too. But if you need more reasons to back up my dislike reasonings, I can probably go on a bit more. Just as others can give multiple reasons for loving her.

Peace brutha!

Dave

Just sayin' my peace like everyone else.

Still feels more like a knee jerk reaction to me than an actual "choice", but whatever.
No.
The only thing I'm bitter about is that I'm still alive.

Steve, you need to talk. I'm not gonna ask if you WANT to talk. I am saying you NEED to talk. You know how to get a hold of me.

No.

I'll call.

Darrell Lawrence
December 28th, 2012, 10:17 AM
Ok. I won't call. Did you change your number? Getting weird message about a code being dialed wrong.

martok2112
December 28th, 2012, 10:18 AM
Number's been changed anyway, and I have not been in the habit of giving it out. Changed it ever since I decided to stop talking to my younger brother a few months ago, stemming from the ashes of a family emergency.
Darrell, I'm just in a really bad emotional state right now, and apologize if I seem off the edge a bit.
I really haven't been ok since Comic Con, and the fact that it's the holiday season isn't helping either.

Darrell Lawrence

Like I said, you NEED to talk. Do you still have my number? Call me.

martok2112
December 28th, 2012, 10:23 AM
Martok will resolve this on his own.
I appreciate the offer, but Martok is better off sorting things out in solitude.
I only said I was bitter about still being alive.
I didn't say I was going to do anything to achieve another state. :)

Darrell Lawrence
December 28th, 2012, 10:51 AM
And I wasn't implying you were talking about another "state" :)

The holiday doom and gloom wears on people.

You still NEED to talk ;) I am available.

I *am* your friend and I *care*.

I really have no CLue as to how some of these replys came to be,
but I am not complaining.

My posts do squat, no matter what part of the globe.....lol...

I gained some understanding of some of you I often do not hear, or read from.

Aside from all that, I take it the video has spawned some discussion ,
and I just want to say, that I am reading .....

SEE LATEST, <possibly last> Rise of the Cylons VIdeo. posting in final section..

Randal, your stuff is always great....no worries there whatsoever. I know folks are often slow to respond to posts of our material.....it kinda gets discouraging when we look at the post statistics and see "View: 59 Replies: 0".

But, I try to look at it as, there are other modelers/artists/animators in our ranks who are busy with their own stuff, so they might not always get the time to break away from their projects to look at others. And, as was pointed out to me a short time back, those who are not modelers/animators would like to be able to say something other than "nice job" or "keep it up."

In our minds, every little "nice job" or "keep it up" is large encouragement, but I understand too that sometimes, those same folks who might be inclined to comment would like to say something more substantial beyond those short phrases, and sound knowledgable about the craft that we are learning. :)

Some of the replies came as a result of me living in a world of self-loathing right now that has caused me to lash out, and for that, I apologize. :)
