Just for funzies, let's see how the so called "closed minded fans" of BSG would rank the top Science Fiction Characters.

*This has just been put on DVD, check Amazon
Harrison Ford, Blade Runner/Raiders of the Lost Ark/Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back
Sigourney Weaver, Alien/Aliens, Love that underwear!
William Shatner/Kirk, Leonard Nimoy/Spock, and DeForest Kelley/Dr. McCoy, Star Trek TOS & Movies II. IV & VI.
The TNG, DS9 et al, are OK not great, it is time to put this franchise to an end.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terminator/Terminator 2/Lots of other Scifi, Arnold rocks!
Charlton Heston, Planet of the Apes. Just the original, not the others & The Omega man.
Bruce Willis, Twelve Monkeys/The Fifth Element
Christopher Reeve, Superman, just the first one.
Hal 9000, 2001 A Space Odyssey (Hal stole the show) Dave: "Hal open this hatch" Hal ".... silence ....Hal900 "Dave what are you doing Dave?".... silence
The Thing, Yes, both versions, a rare remake that was as better than the original.
Battlestar Galactica, with Richard Hatch/Dirk Benedict/Anne Lockhart/Herb Jefferson. A continuation is the only way to go.
Twilight Zone, hosted by Rod Serling. Never again, lightning does not strike twice.
From my locked DVD drawer, I love these older movies:
When Worlds Collide/Forbidden Planet/ The Time Machine/Invasion of the Body Snatchers/ Metropolis/Journey to the Far Side of the Sun/ Fahrenheit 451

Top Sci-Fi Heroes (in no real order)
1. Luke Skywalker – farm boy grows up to save the good guys. He is utmost important in the fall of the empire (IMO)
2. Han Solo – the good hearted rouge (both characters missing from any of the new movies), and without him, Luke can not do what he needs to do.
3. James T. Kirk – yeah, Shatner may not be the greatest actor, but the Kirk character – decisive, strong, caring – a real leader of men and lover of women – is a prototype “hero.”
4 & 5. Apollo and Starbuck. The straight arrow and loose cannon. But each sworn to protect each other and humanity. Both willing to sacrifice for the other. But most heroic, willing to let the other sacrifice himself for the fleet. Truly noble heroes – and characters that are all but missing in most television and movies anymore
6. Ripley – fish out of water, struggling against all odds, still kicks butt and takes names. Oh yeah, she’s a woman, and one of the few good female characters
7 and 8. Buck Rodgers and Flash Gordon – OK. It’s kind of hokey, but I like the 30s sci fi heroes. The 70s remakes were OK, but give me the 30s serials any day.
9. Buckaroo Banzai. He has it all. Rock Star, brain surgeon and ladies man.
10. Jack O’Neal. The TV version. I don’t know why, I just never cared for Kurt Russel’s version.
Top Sci-Fi Villains (also in no order)
1. Darth Vader. Sure, he was 2nd to the Emperor, but for sheer nastiness and scary, Vader comes out on top. For the first two movies, he was the bad guy. And like his heroic counter parts listed above, a true villain has yet to appear in the prequels
2. Aliens. Any one who wasn’t scared by the Aliens is lying. At least in the first two movies.
3. Baltar. The original. The Cylons are scary and could well be considered villainous. But paraphrasing RDM, we don’t understand them, so how can we say they are evil? Baltar, on the other hand, is human. And he sold out most of humanity for himself. Even if the attack on the colonies was unexpected, he eventually helps the cylons. He does it to save his own life, and to keep what fleeting power he has. He is a truly frightening character, because “there but for the grace of God….”
4. OK. I tried. But I can’t keep up the façade. I just re-read #3, and realized I am full of ****. The Cylons are just evil. And like Darth Vader, truly menacing in there shiny chrome and red eyes. No list of baddies from sci fi is complete with out them
5. Rutger Hower (misspelled, no doubt) from Bladerunner. He is just a scary guy, and his lethal character was one of the top baddies from the 80s
6. The Terminator. Arnold. As the Govenator got more popular, he morphed into the hero of the series, but I think he was best as the bad guy. The following movies, the new terminators got niftier special effects, but the original is the best.
7. The Predator. Hunting humans for sport. Ironic isn’t it?
