*NOTE: The one from the new series in the back is my Son's build- he says he likes the design even if the show itself is felgercarb.

I'm making them to sell. :salute:
See, a while ago I went looking for a perfect Viper to buy. Well, there ARE none out there. Moebius, the greatest model company around, doesn't have the rights, else they could easily do it (just look at their amazing Mark II from the new series!). So, that leaves the Revell model- a heavily detail-lacking kit, but with good basic lines. Problem is, they stopped production a few years ago.
So I made my own, and tweaked the kit to a much higher level of detail. Then I made another for my diorama:
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f110/chrisisall/Galacticalandingbay029.jpg
Now, I'm making them to sell to severe fans like myself that crave a near-perfect, screen accurate Viper at a price they can (hopefully) afford (and my new ones are turning out even better than the one in this picture!!). At around $250, it's not gonna be cheap, but realize that it takes a month (some 30 hrs of work) to make just one. And the kits go for $35-$40 each now. Another professional modeler would easily charge $500 or more. I'm only asking like, $8 an hour for my time- I think that's pretty fair. But obviously, due to lack of Revell Viper models out there (I've only been able to snag 6 so far), there ain't gonna be many.
So until or IF another company gets the rights to do it (and I contacted Revell directly- they tell me they have no plans to re-issue it in the foreseeable short-term future), my Vipers are gonna be the only really good ones you can get now, and for a SHORT time.
I'll let you all know right here when they're ready.

Sorry about the long-windy here, I'm very passionate about this.:D

And yeah, I'm gonna hoard ONE more model for myself!:D:thumbsup:

I am curious what those would look like green screened..put into video.
say versus a CG model...interesting.

you can go to turbosquid ( i checked the other day) on current price ranges for a CG model Viper. though accuracy and detail and mesh may vary. Was a Cylon Centurion- unk-orig design for 280.00 Viper for 80.00

but with CG models you do not know what you are getting till you get it

I often wonder how those artists get away with selling CGI models of licensed properties....seems wrong to me. I just saw a Twiki mesh for $ 40 on another site.

I'm sure you will sell all of those vipers quickly. The quality from here is looking real good.

I hope so, in the mean time I just started making plans to sculpt & mold my own from scratch seeing as the Revell model well is drying up. It'll take a couple months to sculpt it real good, but once the molds are made, I'll be able to offer up a perfect 5-6" Viper for a very reasonable price (waaaay under $100) that might also include landing gear as a base.
As always, I'll make the cool stuff that I want that doesn't already exist!;)
Like Scotty said, I'll let ya know!:salute:

From MY POV, if it's not offered anywhere else, no, it's not wrong.
Legally, there's a fine line between offering up an individual work of art for sale & running an established operation that takes and fills orders.

LOL Tell that to the studios. They seem to love sending out "Cease and Desist" orders.
On the flip side making and distributing the same mesh for free....zero problem.
Just depends on how much you want to give to the community of your hard work.
I think I'll have to pick up some extras (Vipers)here in the models shops. You are getting severely hosed price wise.
I picked up my last one for about $25 Can. with tax.

Beautiful work on these builds. I hope you sellout with these.

And they're not even totally done yet!
But close.
The three in front are my personal models, the center one being built in 1980, the three in back are ones I'm making to sell (hopefully), and have far more detail.;)

I used a metal ruled taped to the hull, but next time I'll use dynamo tape.
