Well, may have found why it has been dropped like a brick everywhere I used to watch it.
in their words.
The SciFi remake is a huge hit -- now see the original. Under attack from the evil Cylons, the last human survivors travel through the reaches of space in a desperate search for the legendary planet Earth.
So, it seems you can watch them now on NBC .Com
Link to Episodes.

I did notice just re-watching part 1 sound seemed pitched a lil
but I did notice a few scenes
Am unsure if they are re edits, added new footage or updated just a few things, but were a few I did not recall being in the show or episodes takes I am accustomed to seeing.

It's nice to see NBC.com offering the original 1978 series. I'm thinking that they're probably using the cuts from the 2003 DVD release as they were remastered and are the most complete.
What's even more interesting is the inclusion of Galactica 1980 episodes under the heading "season 2".
As far as the show being "back" on NBC, it was originally on ABC when first broadcast, but since NBC now owns Universal, they currently own the rights to broadcast it.

That may be the most interesting, but the funniest has to be this: "The SciFi remake is a huge hit"

IMO—you've nailed it. But we don't discuss it here. Chuckling at Syfy propagana is still OK—they use a lot of the same hype on every show. :D
