Producer says Farscape dropped for SG-1?

Looks like Brad Wright, Stargate's executive producer, has not been briefed on the official SciFi Channel line ...

In this month's Impact magazine, he's quoted as saying:

"Some say that Farscape was dropped because of Stargate. I guess there may be some amount of truth to that. I think SciFi needed to focus on one show and we won that battle hands down. Even the Monday night repeat blocks of Stargate on SciFi are doing well. They are deliriously happy and have a show that brands the network. Originally they'd thought that would be Farscape."

I am a huge fan of Stargate SG-1. I cannot see why Sci-Fi cannot support both programs. I watch Farscape ever Friday and I think it is a terrific series. Much better than what i am expecting from Tremors or even the new Battlestar Galactica.

While Farscape is a descent show I prefer SG1. Despite the violence SG1 feels more family oriented than Farscape. Farscape feels more like a light version of Lexx than a heavy version of Star Trek.

I am still impressed with how well SG1 has expanded the original movie's universe. While I have not read the books it seems the writers have actually put a great deal of thought into what the universe of SG1 is like.

I still hold out hope that the final version of BG:Redo is similar to SG1. Unfortunately, from everything that has leaked so far, it looks like it will be closer to Lexx or a heavy version of Farscape.
