:wtf:

You're supposed to eat those burritos, not smoke 'em!!

:rotf:

Congrats to you too, Darrell..... this really should be a good matchup on both offense and defense. (Dom Capers was DC under Bill Cowher, before going to Carolina as their head coach.)

Did you know...

Both Packers and Steelers' winning points came from their defenses... aka the #1 and #2 (by a mere .5!) scoring defenses.

Both the Packers and Steelers' QBs had rushing TDs.

The Packers have the most NFL Chmpionships over-all.

The Steelers have the most Superbowl wins in the Superbowl era.

I knew about the last 2 items but, didn't realize that about the first 2.

I'm actually physically ill this morning and what's even worse is getting a text by text blow of the Packer victory from Darrell!

 Bad thing is, YOU asked what happened after that 5 and a half minute mark, thus getting the blow by blow.

Otherwise, I just texted.... TOUCHDOWN! :rotf:

Ok no need to get.....cheesy!

And i am NOT a closet Packer fan and the reason i asked at the 5 minute mark was because i was at bball practice with my son and secretly hoped that the Bears suddenly came back. AND they almost did if cry baby Jay would have been half arsed yesterday. PLUS i did get a ru-ro in there when the trimmed the lead to 7. :)

And i'm jealous of the Steelers since they got the freakin coach we had here all along! And we kept...CHILDRESS! Oh the shame.

:(

Hmm. Steelers or Packers? I'm not sure which I'd choose. I do have a lot of respect for how the Steeler owners run their team but know virtually nothing about the Packers. Maybe I'll just go with the quarterback I like...Hmmm.

No matter who you cheer for, enjoy the game—it might be a lot longer break from football after it than anyone wants.

Try mightily but, ye will find that what I say is true and the Terrible Towel will rule.

For Green Bay's sake, they should not deface it in any way. They do not want to suffer the "curse" of the Terrible Towel. Tennessee dared to stomp on the towel prior to a 2008 regular season game with Pittsburgh and not only lost their last game of the season but, their only playoff game and the first 6 games of 2009! It was only after making amends by signing a terrible towel and donating it for charitable purposes, was the curse lifted.

You can cheer for the QB suspended for a number of games due to sexual stuff, or you can cheer for the QB that calmly replaced a cry baby QB (a cry baby QB that ended up with his own sexual problems at that  )

As for the Packers ownership- Only team in the NFL publicly owned and operated.

;)

Those towels will be brown after the game due to the Steelers having to use them to wipe themselves after the Packers get done with them ;)

Don,

Outside of the Steelers, my all-time favorite match-up in the Super Bowl would be Minnesota vs Buffalo. It's almost criminal that each has been there 4 times with nothing to show for it.

When we were kids, one of my friends loved the Vikes - the Purple People Eater version with Alan Page, Carl Eller, Fran Tarkenton, etc. Another friend liked the Dolphins but, for most of us, it was "the Stillers".

EWWW!

And Darrell, yes Favre did throw and INT in last years NFC Championship but the other X packers had nothing to do with it. Peterson fumbled, Berrian fumbled (ex bear), Harvin fumbled and with 5 turnover's if childress was half the coach he thought he was we'd have gone to the dance. Calling a pass play when Longwell could have tried a 50 yarder to end the game is just insane.

Oh well now were back to reality, rebuilding a team but so far i'm happy with what Frazier is trying to do. He dumped nearly everything and is hiring strong position coaches. Now if we just had a stadium to play in.

Favre's last pass as a Packer: INT in the Conference Championship game.

See a pattern?

Amazing that it took Favre 5 years as a starter (1992-1996) to get to the SB, yet took Rodgers 3 as a starter (2008-2010).

And Big Ben has two SB titles already. Won't be getting his third this year though ;)

Although Rodgers tried his hardest to be Favre number 2. He threw some pretty boned headed INT's himself and this maybe his only shot at a ring.

Go STEELERS!

DOH!

Darrell Lawrence
January 26th, 2011, 10:19 AM
Nah. He'll have more SB games to play in too ;)

As for being Favre #2, again, nah. He, like Ben, both threw INTs in the Champ games, BUT never cost the team the game with those INTs.

-----

This is really weird... the two teams are so similar, and even analyzing the Conf Champ games, the two games were very similar too.

This may be one of the better match-ups of recent years.

Likely a "pick 'em".

Well, Mayor Bloomberg made good on the bet between he and Pittsburgh mayor Luke Ravenstahl.

You ever read the fine print on one of them towels? Made in WI ;)

But back to that vid... what's that got to do with the match-up between the Steelers and Packers?

jewels

Didn't the Steelers have to beat the Jets to get there? Then the losing mayor had to post the other team's fan symbol for the Superbowl.

Bloomberg has to root for the Steelers, that's all. It's a silly thing.

One of our news stations did a story on the towel-making company:

Re: the video? I put it here instead of creating another thread, simply for it. Now, it may not be important for you or me but, the mayor of Green Bay may want to watch, in order to get an idea of what he'll need to do after the Super Bowl.

That was a pretty good game, and both teams made excellent plays - but the Steelers made some critical mistakes the Packers were able to take advantage of.

We enjoyed it!

Thanks, Pete. The Steelers put up a good fight, but their turn-overs cost them.

Maybe a rematch next year! ;)
