Here's another test shot....Colonial Warriors on Desert Planet. This time, as you'll notice, they're sporting blaster rifles. (All I did was elongate the barrel detail and enlarge slightly the back detail of the Colonial Blaster Pistol, and add a scope and bullpup mag slot). The rifles are designed to have removable bullpup styled magazines, and the electronic scope on the rifle will have a surface on the eyepiece side which can display video of the target.
This could be a shot from an upcoming episode, but for now, I just thought it was the ideal place to show off an exploratory team sporting heavier firepower. :)

And now, here's another quickie test video (with sound effects) testing out the swivel turret and laser effects on a moving landram. It's Starbuck and Athena. Oh, noes....they are being attacked by Cylons.
This video will also demonstrate that the shadows do not work so perfectly. I hope this is something iClone can rectify in a future update/version.

That is pretty damn cool :)
I especially like the way the Cylons collapse - some nice rigging and animation.

Thanks, guys. :)
One of the advantages of iClone is that you can buy pre-made animations for the characters. The turret rotation was the hardest thing I had to do, because the pivot point for the cannon assembly was dead center, not centered beneath the seat base....so I had to rotate the assembly slightly, then correct it for X,Y, then rotate it a little more, then correct for X,Y again....so, quite a few key-frames for what should've been a simple animation. :)
I am glad you guys liked what you saw though. Thank you. :salute:

good stuff, them's the good's :)
is it possible in your 3d app to group the turret assembly, then move the pivot points
for that group to exactly where you want it?
I've got a short little video of turrets doing that i'll putt it up in a tick.
cheers.

Awesome work there!
I've tried variations with my Landram turret, trying to alter the parent/child relationship in the assembly, and to no avail, also there are only three pivot points available for each object in iClone.... Center, bottom center, and scene root. The bottom center of my turret is just ahead of the seat. But it's cool...it's a little tedious, but I can manage. :)

Update:
Thanks to the advice of someone at the Reallusion iClone forums, I have now been able to correct the pivot point problem of my landram cannons. I had to use 3DEXChange to do it (a purchase I am ever so thankful to have made). I can custom place the pivot point anywhere....and now, my landram cannons have proper turnstile capability...and on top of that, I was able to give my cannon barrels "elevation" ability, so the landram can engage air attackers and snipers. :)
Good Lord, I am so glad to have iClone, 3DEXChange, and Blender. :)

Another nice update:
I can add editable laser bolts and attach them to my ships/character props. All I have to do is attach them, and make one firing animation. From there, I can store the prop with the firing laser, and make it fire as fast or as slow as I wish. This is a LOT easier to do with the Blender made props than it was when I was making all my props in iClone.
Good Lord, how this has eased things up! :) This will save me TONS of time in VFX editing!
