Hi, I'm new here, and I'm sure this is an old topic to long-time members, but hey- does it really ever get old to list cool stuff?
My favourites are:
The pilot/movie Saga of a Star World
Lost Planet of the Gods
*then Serina died*
Gun on Ice Planet Zero
The Man with Nine Lives
Hand of God
What are yours?

hi Apolloisall, welcome..
Its true fans can debate and discuss the classics for millennia :-)
My top 5 changes around a bit.
Saga of a Starworld always stays top cos I saw it as a theatrical release and it just had that extra eye ball grab in full screen
& War of the Gods is almost equal because I love the concepts in it (and I'm a sucker for a moral tale full of self sacrifice..)
After that it depends on mood: Gun on Ice Planet Zero, or Living Legend, but sometimes the sillier eps like the Young Lords or the Man with Nine Lives
Cheers,
Lara

War of the Gods .. I love the concepts in it (and I'm a sucker for a moral tale full of self sacrifice..)
Yeah, Count Iblis was bada*s, but I always wondered what Apollo didn't want Sheba to see in the wrecked Battlestar ... I *assumed* it would be her father's remains... then I read it was, like, a sign of the Devil or something.
Either way, never shown. Gripping ep though.

I see that you are a FF fan- me too. Was Joss heavily influenced by TOBSG or what?:D

ha yes, they do seem to have a fine calibre particularly Living Legend. Though I think Experiment in Terra has its moments and Take the Celestra.
I forgot, however, to place Hand of God in that list which I quite like. Fine last episode for the series to go out on.

In order of preference:
Saga of a Star World
Living Legend
Lost Planet of the Gods
Hand of God
War of the Gods
And if the 2-parters rule, it was because they had more time to make the ensemble cast have a story that worked.....

1. SAGA/Theatrical version (I could watch it a thousand times--oh, wait! I probably have!)
2. Hand of God (Fun Galactica vs. baseship battle at the end--if only Cain's head-on clash with the three baseships in LL had lasted nearly as long :( )
3. War of the Gods (Hate the last segment aboard the ship of lights, though...embarassing stuff, IMO)
4. Baltar's Escape (Not a fan favorite, I guess, but I love me some Baltar and also appreciated how the episode utilized so many characters.)
5. Living Legend (Cain's relationship with Adama, the Cain/Sheba/Cassiopea interaction, Cain/Cassiopea/Starbuck, Sheba/Apollo, Red Squadron/Silver Spa Squadron, Cain/Tigh, and of course the usual Baltar/Lucifer sparring...what a load of personality clashes this episode had!)

Just watched Lost Planet of the Gods again, an, y'know, I realized it really isn't one of my favourite episodes. I like a LOT about it, but the way Serena dies just doesn't feel right. They should have stuck to the terminal sickness thing edited out of the pilot IMO. Also just watched Living Legend, forgot how great Lloyd Bridges was in it!
Adjusted five fave list:
The pilot/movie Saga of a Star World
Gun on Ice Planet Zero
Living Legend
War of the Gods
Hand of God
Tenement

Saga of a Star world (I have a fondness for the cinema version in Sensurround.)
The hand of God
The living legend
The gun on ice planet Zero
War of the Gods

Whaoh, Pete, have you seen that episode recently? It moves as slow as a daggit through air ducts.:rotf:
JK- it has a lot of good moments.

It's been a while since I actually sat down and watched Fire in Space (as opposed to listening to a CD of it in my car, which I've probably done at least once in the past year), but I appreciate the episode for its spotlight on Boomer, what was probably Maren Jensen's best work in the series, and the overall feeling of love and concern that the characters showed for one another. Love the ending where Adama tells Apollo that Boomer pulled Athena, Boxey, etc. through their ordeal, and Apollo whispers a sincere "Thank you" to Boomer.

Just watched it with my Son- he says it's awesome. Personally, I'd rate it as a sixth choice, but yeah, it rocked!
