A little design I had been toying with, modeled by me, then cleaned up and sections remodeled by Al Rivard, and then textured by me :) (with pointers from Treybor and Meurig...
Guess I have to link to the picture since it says I can't post an attachment...

That you most definitely do know. When did you start? I've seen some pretty talented people doing modeling... they started when I did way back when, and they're in the professional fields now. You are right there with them from what I am looking at.

She is getting to be quite the wicked bird.
I liked the original but this has raised the bar for you to a whole new level.

That helmet would be very cool on an original reptilian Cylon.

4 years, eh? No wonder  That's about the same time period for those I mentioned as having gone pro.
Back to the Raider, it'd look great going up against my Cobra in some animations ;)
Is that a DeSanto Cylon helmet?

January 18th, 2011, 09:08 AM
when it's done I'll let you throw it up agains the cobra :) I love that old design..
As for the helmet, it's partially influenced by the Desanto production, and by the early models seen in Caprica, as well as hints of the original Series Centurions..

What are the surface settings? It looks pretty spot on!
...and which version of LW?

Lightwave 10, i used the metal preset (Chrome) and tweaked the diffuse and spec and reflection to about 50% each..
Darrell Lawrence
January 18th, 2011, 04:40 PM
Grrrr! I just can't get the look right
And LW 7.5 has the same preset.

A lot of the trick to having metal look right is having something for the metal to reflect.
A lot of people put presets on without giving the surfaces anything to reflect.
A limited set or background image is all you need.

I have used that approach of things in the scene to reflect and/or a BG image.
