I have to do a 5 page paper for my Science Fiction and Society class on a topic of my choice from a Science Fiction short story. The problem is I don't find any of the stories in my book appealing to me. I am more of a person who prefers to read books instead and the professor isn't allowing us to do the paper on a book.
I really would welcome suggestions for some stories I can use for my paper.

"Mirabile" by Janet Kagan is actually three short stories put into one book.
Asimov magazine has compiled the short stories they have published into annual anthologies, too.
There are anthologies published all the time, collections of short stories in single volumes (or multiple volumes, like "Dragons of Darkness" and "Dragons of Light", companion volumes of short stories edited by Orson Scott Card and about - wait for it - dragons. Including a funny "St. George" story in the latter volume.)
And we have a collection of short stories in our library, right here.....
