I support the new proposed Sci-Fi BSG show, and I suspect that many do. I wish the new producers the best, and hope this endeavor isn't another carrot for the fans to get excited about... only to find out that it was dropped.

I don't see my support as a betrayal to the original series. I'm still in love with Apollo <sigh> and hope to see RH's beautiful eyes on TV again.
Although RH won't get the part of the new Apollo, he hopefully will be involved in the project in some way. I'm sure RH has no sour grapes. He doesn't strike me as the sort that would.

I think the new concept for BSG is good, and bypasses many obstacles that a continuation would face. R. Moore has a tremendous task ahead of him. From what I've read, he's going in the right direction.

Since they haven't begun pre-production, I daresay the script will change several times before it's approved as final. All the strange script "leaks" floating around the boards, may prove false. I'm a patient woman. (Note: If they add some sex to the show... I say go for it! I can handle it! I'm an adult. If the script is humorous, intelligent, sexy, and builds a great story, I will not complain.)

The real challenge is creating a Sci-Fi show that's believable on a small to medium budget. I'm more worried about cheesy CGI scenes and dated looking special effects than anything.

I also think that project could become a great show, i just don't think it has anything to do with Galactica.

Welcome to the boards Audona! I hope you enjoy it here! :D

However, given what I've been reading, I can't agree with you on your point about RDM going in the right direction. :( This ain't our BSG. This isn't even a mini-series that you can sit down with your kids with, given all the explicit sex scenes I've been hearing about. Handjobs? Cylons straddling humans? Yeesh!

However, you can make your own opinion once the reviews of the script are made available online. I know that there are a few sources that have already reviewed the script, or in that process now. This includes FilmJerk.com's Edward Havens.

Welcome aboard, Audona. This is a great website, and the people here are friendly, smart and sexy.

Your words got me to thinking. Richard Hatch wouldn't have any sour grapes, as you said. And as an ardent admirer of his, I'm also going to set aside any grievances I have about the remake. If Richard can rise to that level, so can I. Thank you.

BTW: Like you, I'm also in love with him. You will be reading about our doomed love affair in the upcoming book, "Saga of a Star World," which will soon be available at fine bookstores everywhere.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I look forward to the reviewer comments. Keep in mind, scripts go through multiple revisions. I think RDM will make adjustments throughout the project, and I'm sure they'll focus test the pilot before its released.

Hopefully, he'll get an amazing director, talented actors, and he'll be open to making changes when needed.

I never watched Lexx, so I have no comparison to go by. I trust you guys when you say it was extremely explicit.

I do hope RDM isn't going the soft porn route!

Audona,

Welcome to CF. I too have high hopes for the new Galactica, but as it stands now according to everything we've been hearing, Ron Moore's vision of Galactica sure doesn't match what I remember from the original series.

Unfortunately, I start way to many posts lately with unfortunately.

I have seen Lexx and since SciFi ran this series I would not be surprised if they go the same route again.

Let's hope for ALOT of revisions in the script. I am grateful that someone is doing something with the BG product. However, like Akiraprise, I am worried that all the changes will ruin the depth I felt when I was watching the originals, instead of going to "rifle" safety classes.

Ah, life in the small towns of the midwest...

The original BG, despite its problems was a remarkable series for its time. I hope BG:Redo will live up to the potential, and fun, of the original.

Myself I would hope for the "tame" intimacy of the original. I really want to watch this show with my family. While my wife would prefer watching four-hour lifetime sob dramas about unfaithful spouses(for some reason always men) I think my son would really enjoy it.

In comparison, I would never let my son watch the erotica-filled quasi-soft porn series Lexx.

Most of your posts mention "Akiraprise", what is it? I got the impression it has something to do with Enterprise but I don't get the Akira part.

Akiraprise is Enterprise.

A good website to read about it.

Basically alot of fan hopes were raised by the makers pre-production talk of a simpler starship actually looking like an ancestor of the original TOS Enterprise.

However, when the first pictures were released it looked like a blatant copy of an Akira-class ship shown in one of the movies and in the series DS9. When combined with gross violations of existing cannon on an almost weekly basis... It was a major let down for most fans. At least those who where also fans of of the universe created by Roddenbery, instead of fans of the "alien-of-the-week" and scantily/tightly clad women.

So on older Star Trek boards Enterprise is often referred to as Akiraprise.

R Grant: is that a Rankin-Bass avatar today? if so cool! :D

Welcome Audona. What tidbits I've heard leave me little hope for this new BSG, at least as far as it relating at all to the BSG we know. RDM's production needs a new title, as it is for all intents and purposes his own creation or boondogle depending on your take.

That's just my 2 cubits, and I hope that RDM rights the script before any film or tape goes into a camera.

Meantime, G-80 is a veritable gemstone in comparison. (and I liked the premise and hated the execution on that one).

As a followup to my earlier venting...

What Akiraprise did to classic Star Trek fans is what I am worried BG:Redo will do to classic BG fans.

Though from what has "leaked" so far I fear BG:Redo will be far worse than even Akiraprise.

If Ron were to change the title and drop any references to Galactica, I might be able to support the ideas he's come up with. I would think of his ideas as something that Marvel Comics would've done in their old "What If?" series. Just my $0.02 worth.

I sometimes refer to the Akiraprise as the Enterkira... but given Kira on DS9, that sounds kinda... naughty :naughty:

Kira was one of my favorite characters on DS9, her and Garak.
