In yet another of my seemingly endless series of creative diversions that keep me up late at night when I should be going to bed, I find myself playing around with making a turbo effect for a Viper model. It isn't exactly what I have in mind yet, but it's getting there. :)

A very nice flame look to the turbos. Maybe some flares or a bit more energy right at the start/thrusters to blend it to the model. Always loved the turbos!

That's an interesting effect.
I enjoyed watching the little avi file, any chance of posting a more varied video - such as the viper flying around ?

Thanks. That's all coming eventually. Right now I'm just working on getting the effect to look like I want.
All depends on how much time I can mess with it some more. My little "diversions" can sometimes take forever depending on how busy I am with "real work". (or the need for sleep) :)

I once had the effect just the way I wanted it, then had a PC crash and lost the "formula" I had :(

Try using a post filter and adding a glow to the particles. If they're stretched enough, as they seem to be, they should blur into a turbo thrust look. You may have to increase the number of particles or the individual size but it should put you on the track of where you want to go.
