Hey folks -
I was just browsing the web this morning and came across a a new article on Trek XI. It will be a bit of a shocker for some as it reveals a fundamental shift regarding the characters of Kirk, McCoy and quite possibly, even Spock. Here's a link:

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this myself and part of me makes wonder if it's true or some goofy April 1st joke. If it's true, I wonder how those that have been billing and cooing over the trailers will feel about the film now.
It's been an interesting morning....

Oooooh! And it's got Jar-Jar Binks in it, too!!!
Check your sugar bowls for salt, and your salt shakers for sugar, folks. It was painfully obvious this was a gag from the first paragraph. Then came the badly photoshopped Spock-head-on Uhura's body shot, and then came Jar-Jar.
Not as well done as some others I've seen today.

I will applaud a good effort, like the Seth Rogan as Baltar one - this was just not well done.

I admit that when I started to read the article (it was early) and I wasn't looking very closely, after reading the first two paragraphs and get to where there's a quote by JJ Abrams and I'm just like....."what?"
Then I read further, saw some of the pics and text and I just felt the total fool. What a way to wake up in the morning!

I understand there are supposed to be some gay characters in the movie, but the farther you read this article the more obvious it became that this was a joke.
So being sleepy and only a couple of paragraphs read - you're absolved, Bryan. ;)

What's funny is, while Googling for information on this, I stumbled upon a porno that was apparently made to cash-in on the reboot called (I think) "This is Not Star Trek XXX" that had a cast that actually look more like the TOS characters than the cast chosen for the reboot series. From what I've seen the producers decided to go with actors that are currently "hot" not attempt to cast according to type. Witness the actors they chose for McCoy and Uhura. It may sound shallow to gripe about an actor based on looks but, honestly, does that actress LOOK remotely like Uhura or that actor look like a 'good ole southern doctor'?
I know stereotypes are politically incorrect but, cmon, what's next casting playboy bunnies to play Klingons?!
