This is a topic that has come up time and time again and is quite fascinating, so I thought I would offer up the link to a good essay on the topic.
That said, I have a question. I know that Larson was (is?) a member of the LDS. I also know that the president and the quorum of the 12 are the ruling body of the LDS. However, in BSG we see a council that is bureaucratic and mostly impotent. Adama bucks their authority often.
Was Larson subtly calling into question the leadership of the LDS, is Adama representative of a figure who will be above and more wise than the president the council in the LDS, or was it just a dang plot device not to be looked at too deeply. ;)
