Hope you mods can make this a sticky! Cos its that, damn good.

Here is the link to the comments Tom DeSanto made about Transformers at the Saturn awards ceremony for The Lord Of The Rings Fan DVD documentary! Also some of his Battlestar Galactica stuff is mentioned.

Heck even the interviewer is a fan of DeSanto's version it seems! That or just very knowledgble of his his work.

Great interview. And Tom obviously knows how to be diplomatic when it comes to questions like "Do you like the new show?"

LOL.

I have to wonder if large credit is due to CA for this, for acquiring and releasing the bulk of the DeSanto information. And then to the rest of all of us for not letting it rest. ;)

Yup Tom is definitely a nice guy and complete gentlemen and comes across as such. With Transformers around the corner his summer will be a busy one no doubt but as you can clearly see Galactica isn't to far in the back of his mind. And i just love the subtle nods in his interview here?

Other projects in mind which he can't discuss at present huh? ;)

Apart from Transformers what else does he have on his plate that we know of...hmmmm?

When Tom does stop by Colonial Fleets, i hope to tell him how great it is that he does what he does for fans out there and truly understands what it is that makes us sci-fi heads tune in to watch this stuff and that he has our support for getting it etc.

That and he's an incredible person for standing by fans like this.

How many cancelled unfinished projects are spoken about in such a dramatic fashion that DeSanto speaks so personal about it like he isn't finished with it "JUST" yet. I also thought i was kind of touching how Tom mentioned He wanted to do X-Men since he was 6 years old as a motion picture. Since he has the same feelings for Galactica that he does for X-Men i'm sure whatever comes in the future between him and Larson for BG. Would be done for the the fans once again and only because of his passionate drive to make things happen for everybody!

Ugh? :/:

I see a certain someone over at the other place must have seen my thread and copied the link for his own thread elsewhere's?

Seems even when i'm not around you need KJ to locate things faster before you naturally come across news like this sooner or later and try using it yourself thinking you got it first huh.

Well too bad, i beat ya to it and this is the "original thread". And second one to feature the link heck i put it up even earlier in the "Last Battlestar thread" to boot!

Not bad for a guy like me, making passing visits. Next time i'll find some real rare stuff that i know you can't find and when i find the same news isn't up on any site elsewhere, then i'll post a link to the news another 2 hours before 'YOU' attempt to put it up!

Shameful that i didn't at least get any nods for finding this if whomever didn't want to say he found it here first or mention me in passing? Like he'd make a regular visit to iesb.net to get it himself, or just happen to find it out of the blue within 2 hours since i put the link here for everybody by coincidence.

Some people are just too ungrateful and wouldn't admit i put the link here on CF or attempted to give me any kudos for doing so.

Childish, but we know you saw my page and took the link, i see (*laughs*) guess even when i'm barely here i'm still useful. but get no kudos for being so.

Me the uncrowned "king" of 'links' being outdone (hah) not bloody likely. Not if my post is 'older' by date than yours bub. Same goes for the other one around here as well.

Amatuer! :D

Next time, say where you got it from and thank them, cos we all know you got it off me off this page. *sigh* No manners.

Heh, Kids!

This is, indeed, GREAT NEWS! When DeSanto gets the BSG continuation made with his power and resoruces behind it, that will be THE RETURN OF TOS, baby! :Nsalute: Thanks for your keen eye, Jason!

I just watched it, for those who could care less about the Transformers skip to about 5:00 minutes in. Tom is a class act and still manages to call Moore and company out.

"heart and soul" and "they are doing a lot of what we're doing".

Ahh this guy, I could go on for nine pages about why I like this guy! :D

Yo Sept17th how's it been! :)

Glad you liked it! Cos we know DeSanto been that cool guy we've already noted for the past couple of years. This actual piece of footage only comfirms all that every bit more.

Glad you liked it!

I've been good Bro, the pre-production trailer for Battlestar Galactica: The 14th Colony is recieving good vibes.

I still believe DeSanto will save Battlestar Galactica.

Hey, i saw the 14th colony trailer finally. Gotta say it kicks major a$$!

Mythology, Bibical references and Ancient Earth nods make the orginal Battlestar Galactica work! Which is why the 14th colony trailer works so well. Metaphor was always the key with this show.

The TOS fans get it!

Richard Hatch's BG: The Second Coming trailer got it!

Especially does producer Tom DeSanto; Gets it! (thus our respect)

Nuff said.

kj, awesome find. i love hearing tom talk. now i really, really want the ringers dvd....only been a lotr fan for half it's publishing lifetime. ;)

ok, so how excited are you, KJ, about the potential of having original voice actors--since at least 2 of the many producers on TF are for it.

sept. 17th--i think all the fans that have written fanfic, all the modelers and kitbashers that have created awesome ships, all the folks that go to cons especially those with the guts to go in costumes--those folks saved galactica. i think tom may just reclaim her for all of us someday. the sooner the better, imo.:D

i loved the complement that the ringers guy paid tom about his storytelling ability. that was truly cool.

Very.

I and several of my friends would love to hear Peter Cullen and Frank Welker back as Prime and Megatron. We've talked about the classic series and what made us laugh, unhappy etc about the original show as well as the Transformers animated movie from 20 years ago with the unforgetable 'punk rock' Soundtrack, one of the best and few decent ones of the 80's mind you.

So yeah soon as i can, i'm taking this link to where they like to post online and discuss it with them there.

As for Galactica. yeah what you said there is true. But moreso in a global sense mind you considering the folks we've talked to over the years it isn't just mere hangers on who do all the fanfic writing, the modeler 'kit bashers', and fans in costume. I reckon everyone who's often wondered what it would be like to see the old original series return has pitched in with comments online on and off or joined fandom realising there are others out there who feel as we do that the untapped potential of Battlestar Galactica was never reached and could if it were to be revived today!

With new Battlestar Galactica comics around the corner, one for TNS and the other is based on the TOS. (why is there a TOS comic if others claim its old and forgotten? methinks not.) I say those revival feelings out there might increase, along side the fan based projects that captures the attention of those who want to see all things TOS based rather than Sci-Fi Channel remake based.

Thats my take on it jewels! :)

The fact that a big time Hollywood producer still thinks the original Galactica is still one day going to be the next big thing, should tell people something but I would hate to hit anyone over the head with logic. lol

Hey LKJ

Cool find

Thanks OWD!

Found it and thought i'll be good to share it with whomever else loves BG.

How have you been lately. Good?

Say, if DeSanto does pop round CF (if that recent news does pay off?) don't forget to tell him about that BG trailer of yours. Offer to burn it to DVD disc and mail it to him if at all possible. I say give DeSanto all possible reason to see the fans want his version with Larson's full support. Far as i'm concerned from the Saturn awards clip, DeSanto would be the ideal person to get a BG continuation movie off the ground. And i'm pretty sure there are plenty of people out there beyond the Galactica websites and fandom with 'unheard voices' all wanting the same exact damn thing we do. they're just not as vocal about it is all.

Bringing up recent examples to DeSanto if he comes here. Like Joss Wheldon doing Firefly some justice with Serenity, and the fans that brought Farscape back with Farscape's Peacekeeper Wars TV movie that wrapped up Farscape in grand style. As examples of fan support behind those franchises and tell him to expect that kind of a support behind a Battlestar Galactica continuation revival somewhat when he and Larson wake the still "sleeping giant" up from its slumber!

I reckon that Saturn awards news clip speaks volumes of what a determined respectful and creative individual Tom DeSanto is and what he can do for Galactica if Glen Larson and whatever future studio executives would just let him do it for everybody and not just us fans!

There's an audience for this kind of revival and people remember the TOS to this day. I just wish studios and greedy execs would let this baby loose before expensive cinema tickets and rising movie price tags to make actual films these days ($150 million and above) cost way too much in a few years time. To make anything decent worth seeing at all. Let alone earns its money back.

yup all is good. been really busy lately but thats done for now so I have a little time now to pick up and get some Galactica projects done that I have been promising people here for quite some time. Of course everyone knows I'm the worlds worst procrastinator.

Thanks for the kind words. Don and Darrell are really great for letting me tinker around with their awesome artistic abilities.
Ultimately, any decision to let anyone see what I did with their property, is totally up to them. I have a few changes to make to Darrells trailer from his input and hope to get that done soon.

I hope Tom gets to see all this Galactica stuff going on. Hope Glen Larson does too.
Its awesome how this fan base has really picked up the pace in just the last year alone because action speaks louder then words and the fan base is all about action. :)
