I'm enjoying season 1 with Eccleston and Piper. The humor and family-friendly tone/subjects are a good mix and feel much like my favorite days with the Doctor. (though it seems they kept the ugly villain aliens like the original so far)
Eccleston and Piper have been wonderful together, can't wait to see Tennant and Piper too.

I was a little apprehensive at first , but having watched all but 1 ep. so far, I've quite enjoyed it. Eccleston makes a great doctor, reminding me in many ways of Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker, with a little bit crustier edge. What I find the funniest is, the dvd's will be out in July in the US, but are already available in Canada. LOL

I'm enjoying the series very much. I've seen most of the 'old' episodes & enjoyed them too. The only problem I'm having is the English accent. It's hard to understand the dialogue.

LOL... "having trouble with the english accent"!!!
Don't get alot of exposure to Northern accents, do we? I can see where you're coming from, but trust me, you'll pick it up.
I love the new series. Its absolutely fabulous. I was a little leary at first, because I wasn't thrilled with the new T.A.R.D.I.S. interior or the new Sonic Screwdriver (which is no longer sonic but light-emitting for some reason), but they won me over completely. I've seen all the current episodes through the first ep of series 2 and it's just a bunch of great fun.
They've kept all the old favorite stuff and spiffed it up and lost some of the more cheesy things. But you'll notice as you watch, they are basically doing one of every type of episode in the first season... a big rubber monster, a haunted house, an alien menace, a red-herring, a historical, etc. etc.
And the way they are writing Rose Tyler is spectacular. She's smart. Like you would be smart if it was you in there instead of a normal companion. She's able to function on regular intuition... plus the fact that the Doctor is basically keeping her around stuff that is pretty similar to here only more fantastic. It wouldn't be fair to subject her to total culture shock.
And they've done some interesting things with the Dr.Who universe. They'll eventually have to get around to explaining how the Time Lords could possibly have been completely wiped out. How do you do an impossible thing? And what did the Doctor have to do with it? And they acknowledge the existence of all the other doctors and all the stuff that has happened in the past series. There's a big "walk down memory lane" coming up but I can't say anything about it for fear of spoiler.
Anyway, I have nothing but love for the new show. Hope it continues for MANY years.

I hope it continues for many years also.
The father's day episode was an excellent bit of work, from concept to writing to acting and even the scary gargoyle demon design. Billie Piper is a great actress and I'd rate the actress playing her mum as a near equal to Doris Roberts here in the U.S.
I loved the line about ordinary people being the most important thing in the universe. Wish I had written that one down.

I know who the actress playing her mother is. I couldn't remember - but she (Camille Coduri) played King Ralph's girlfriend Miranda opposite John Goodman.
Liked her in that, too.
I really liked last nights ep, too.

I'm enjoying it. The series is just awesome. Looking forward to see the next with the other doctor I have hear good things about it too. But I have to say I will miss Eccleston, he's just great. :)

I agree that Eccleston was great, but I honestly think David Tennant is even better.
