Okay folks. THIS JUST IN:

I just got my hands on DEFINITIVE images of Commander Adama's medallion from a good friend who works in California. I cannot share them, but they are of excellent quality.

I am getting in touch with my sculptor and will be preparing a most accurate replica for consumption by fans everywhere.

You'll have to give me some time to get it all put together, but I assure you... it WILL be coming SOON. And it WILL be worth the wait!!!

Gordon, I'm pleased that this particular quest of yours has turned up trumps.

I can, however, wait to see the finished article. ;)

After examining the images very closely, I can tell you this: that little chunk of greeblie in the middle of Adama's medallion is symmetrical and it appears to be a piece of costume jewelry. It is absolutely NOT a military piece. I am going to show the pics to a good friend who works exclusively with costume jewelry and attempt to identify the maker and if we're really lucky, the exact piece.

Failing that, my sculptor is standing by to take on the replication.

Since finding the real italian piece of jewelry is somewhat nebulous in timeframe, I will be having my sculptor start work on the replica very soon.

SURE! As long as you have the proper piece of Italian costume jewelry or a replica sculpture of it to pull out of your butt! :D

Not out of my butt, but... well.... nah... won't say it ;)

I was suspecting someone would get back to this thread! :)

I set my sculptor to work on the replica version. He's glacially slow unless he's all worked up over a project. I haven't had the opportunity to "work him up" about this one. He's into too many things (like anime and conventions and other shows) to maintain focus for any decent length of time.

But its good youre reminding me so I can bug him about it.

As far as finding the real cosume jewelry piece, the person I have looking for it is about as adept at finding that sort of thing as you'll ever meet. She says that particular design came in a couple of different sizes. She's got an opportunity to get her hands on the tiny version sometime soon. But she's still looking for the full-scale version.

And that's where we sit.

If anythign really exciting comes along, you folks will be the first to know!
