I'm not sure if this section belongs in the art section or not. But I felt it needed to be brought up. And with all the modellers and animators here this seemed like a good place to bring this topic up.

I have been looking into the movie TRON in hopes of writing a review of it for Cylon Alliance. I found out a lot of info about TRON and the visual effects done for the film. Also the virtual sets used in the film. For the most part they were shot on white and black backgrounds and the animation was added on.

I was thinking that perhaps the techniques from TRON could be used to construct a new Galactica bridge using computer animation for a fan film if one was going to do one using the Galactica, or another Colonial battlestar or ship. Framework could be built using backgrounds the CGI could be animated on, and actors could work on the backgrounds giving the impression that a bridge crew is working on those consoles.

I really recommend getting the 20th Anniversary edition of TRON, as it could give CG Animators around here quite a few ideas. Some of them probably low budget by now if they are looking how to bring some aspects to life at a minimal cost. ;)

:viper: Keep 'em flying.
