Knight Rider Still Rides?

David Hasselhoff told Australia's Rove Live TV show that he's acquired the film rights to his old Knight Rider TV series and still plans to turn it into a feature film, according to the Moviehole.net Web site.

Hasselhoff reportedly plans to oversee a straight sequel to the TV series, centring on Michael Knight and his teenage son, who both have cars. The film is envisioned as slightly retro, the site reported.

Hey, if he can get this made, then more power to him! I'm sure there are message boards out there somewhere devoted to Knight Rider that are buzzing about Hasselhoff taking this into his own hands and working to get a continuation up and running. I guess it would be like if one of the actors for Galactica was to try to get a continuation of that show going. Wouldn't that be wild if somebody tried to do that?

Fragmentary.........that's what Richard Hatch tried to do. But interestingly, we were told the rights situation with BSG was too complicated.......yet Larson managed to but the theatrical rights.

Nowhere in this article does it mention from whom Hasslehoff bought the rights ? Did he buy them from Universal ? Or did he buy them from Glen Larson ?

Larson gave the impression he would be making a Knight Rider movie.......so did he have the rights but not the get up and go ? Hasslehoff made him an offer and he sold them on ?

Let's hope this leads to a worthwhile Continuation for Knight Rider.....

More and more it seems that Larson will get up, say whatever he wants or think fans want to hear, but never really pull any of it off. I'd like to believe that he is pursuing such things as a TOS theatrical film, but anything he says anymore goes in one ear then out the other.

I hope to be pleasantly surprised one day. Maybe if we see actual production designs, story ideas or plans start making their way around the net, then I'd have a little more belief.

I've long suspected that the only property Larson is actually working on getting made into something is the A-team, and even then the extent of his effort is to consider the annual offers from other producers for them to re-make it.

Honestly, the guy is retired. That's just how it is. *shrug*

I don't think the A-Team is his jewel, Stephen J. Cannel or something like that.

Yeah... while the A Team seemed right up there with his stuff, he had nothing to do with that. It was Stephen J. Cannel's. Also created "The Greatest American Hero", "Riptide", "21 Jump Street" to name a few.

I really don't believe Larson is working toward anything. I think his lips move, some sound comes out, but unfortunatly he doesn't hear his own words.

Would still love to be surprised by him though. Come on Glen, surprise the hell out of us!

Saw the car (it was showcased in CHiPs '99) and was unimpressed. As for the '82 Firebird:

I have so few "clean" fantasies, please don't step on one of the few. :D
