That was definitely some good and comprehensive material regarding the original series.

I only had one problem, but it's a small one. Take a look at this:

The twelve colonies are named after the astrological signs of the Greek zodiac:
Aerelon - Aries
Tauron - Taurus
Gemoni - Gemini
Cancera - Cancer
Leonon - Leo
Virgon - Virgo
Libron - Libra
Scorpia - Scorpio
Sagitara - Sagittarius
Caprica - Capricornus
Aquaria - Aquarius
Picon - Pisces. Home colony of Count Baltar.

The names of the 12 colonies are correct for the most part, but others seem to be taken from the current BSG series. I don't ever remember hearing names like Tauron or Aerelon in the original series...

Not a big deal really, but I still like the article!

Best,
Bryan

Bryan,

In Saga, when Boomer and Starbuck first get to Caralon and run into the lady (Randi Oakes) with the feathers in her hair, Starbuck hears her accent and asks her if she's Tauran. She's sometimes credited in that role as "Young Tauran Woman".

I think in "The Long Patrol", there is a reference to an Arian/Aerelon freighter, not sure which. I'm going to have to look that up on DVD and see whether it was said by the guy trying to shoot Starbuck down when he is flying the other ship after his viper gets stolen, or Tigh when he reports to Adama that they are receiving a certain type of transmissions.

I'll double check the last one when I get home...

Hope this helps,
Mike

Mike -

I remember that scene... Starbuck says: "Hey, you're from Taura" and the woman says: "I'm a Taurus, how do you know that?"

I think the fact that the script credits list Randi as a "Young Tauran Woman", they must've been going off of Starbuck's "Taura" statement.

I remember Cassiopea being on the bridge and commeting: "That's an Arian merchant code" and Adama making references to the pilot possibly being from, or contacting the planet Aries.

My memory is pretty good, but you can take a look when you get a chance... :D

Best,
Bryan

If memory serves, didn't Robber ask Cora if "she" could plot the course to Aries? Later, on the Galactica bridge, when Athena was trying to decipher Robber's transmission, Cassie recognized it and referred to it as an Arian merchant code.

Maybe my memory is cloudy, though, because I couldn't figure out how he was going to get to Aries. It was one of the Colonies and they were a very long way from the Colonies.

You guys are right. Here's the specifics. Spelling comes from the subtitles.

*pops in Saga DVD*

Starbuck: "Listen - hey, you're from Taura"
Oakes: "I'm a Taurus, how do you know that?"

*pops in The Long Patrol DVD*

Robber asks CORA to plot a course to a specific asteroid...

Later,

Cassie recognizes the code:

"That's an Aerian merchant code. My father, he was a merchant. I used to transmit for him. That's an Aerian merchant code, or it sure looks like one."

Excellent memories! You guys rock!

Mike

Mike...

Now I don't feel so old - at least my memory isn't as foggy as I thought!
