Who'd you select (or did select way back when) as a role model from the show?

While Apollo appealed as the ultimate roll model and Starbuck was bit too off center for me, though lots of fun to watch, Boomer cool under fire I found most appealing.

All of the main warrior characters had good, role-model-quality attributes. Apollo the straight arrow, always doing his best and putting others ahead of himself. Starbuck may have complained and loved the ladies, but when the chips were down he was right there. Boomer's calm demeanor under the tensest of circumstances was certainly something to aspire to. And Adama's sheer wisdom and charisma was inspiring.

My choice as "role model" would be depending on my mood...

All the 'good guys' are roll models IMO. Seflessly working together to ensure the survival of your civilisation pretty much does it for me.

Apollo for his frank assessments of situations. And for always seeking to do the right thing, no matter how much jeopardy it put his life in.

Starbuck for infusing dire circumstance with a hint of humor, the wry kind that makes you smile. Also for his never letting Apollo go off alone on one of Apollo's more gambling plans.

Cassie for her backbone to fight for her man; but even moreso her willingness to change to adapt to her current circumstances when her old profession just wasn't as vital to survival.

Sheba for being completely female and an equal or better warrior than most of the men. Keeping Apollo in her weapons lock being my favorite instance of her skill being shown.

Adama for his wisdom, diplomacy and integrity.

Tigh for his ability to truly handle second in command, and his frankness with his CO.

Salik for standing up for the lives of the Paradeen bound "family".

Boomer for always keeping his head.

All of them for never losing hope that they could find Earth someday.

Oh definitely Apollo. The other kids all wanted to be Starbuck because he was cool. But I always looked up to Apollo because he was so full of love for his dad, wife, and adopted son. He was quiet, and led by example. He did the right thing.

Role models? Cassie or Boomer: cassie was a tough cookie who stood up for what she wanted and knew where she was going , Boomer was smart and clever and dependable.

Objects of wishful thinking? Apollo and Starbuck :D :D

Cheers,

Commander Adama - priest, warrior and prophet.
Adama never claimed to be, was ever called, nor ever showed signs of being a prophet.

Yeep! I didn't realize how quickly that rolled off the keyboard without thinking about it. Something about Adama that gave off an Old Testament glow, the Space Age Moses.

Anyway, Adama was still my #1 guy.
