Well, some thoughts about new show.:)
I see a lot new Films/Series at TV and cinema (like Enterprise "The Beginnings", Stargate and so on). But it is always the same :( No new FX ideas, no realy new story ideas. The best example for this, is Star Wars. The last films are the same as
the first ones (imho). They fight against the evils with the lightswords and simple..thats it. The last one i see with realy new things, was "Lexx - the dark zone", a fourparted film. New FX, new story and well played. But this was about 4-5 years ago.
Has anyone another good new series/film in mind ?

Firefly. All the episodes are on DVD and it's a boxset worth owning if you can't rent it.
Joss Whedon can write stories nearly anyone can find enjoyment in. The Serenity movie due out this fall will be well worth the ticket price. Just ask the people that saw the unfinished previews.

I would still welcome a mini series based on the Heinlen (I think) books Rama, Return of Rama, ect...
I think they would be facinating, and would really push the mental limits of people, sort of like "Who shot Jr" did for the soap opera crowd. Think of it, a mystery played out on a grand scale, with the special effects on level with Star Wars or any other great CGI film. It would be wonderful, especially if they STAYED with the books, not making it into some cheap Gilligans Island in space.

I mess around with a freeware package known as Celestia, and write short plot ideas for new sci fi series.
A few thoughts have crossed my mind that I will share.
1) Earth Colonial expansion.
2) A more realistic startrek like show. I am sorry, but after a stint in the US Army (AIRBORN ALL THE WAY) and the masters in history I earned, I have come to the conclusion that the goody two shoes federation just dont cut it. Wouldnt it be better to have a human based galactic power in which the human attitude "it looks hostile, lets screw with it" comes out?
3) A series dealing with different groups in the future, mercs, military, government, merchants etc.
4) A series dealing with the revolt against the Microsoft empire.

You've got it in for Star Trek, don't you, Bacho?
;)
Of course Star Trek's universe - which was strictly the vision of Gene Roddenberry up to Voyager, BTW - won't work until humans as a species become more enlightened - there I fully agree with you.
But Roddenberry's vision assumed that this enlightenment had happened - as a result of WWIII. The Star Trek universe grew from that enlightenment.
But I'm all over the revolt against Microsoft concept.....

I admire Roddenberry, he was a leader in Sci Fi.
However, I have no faith in humanity. Lets face it, after the eco movement of the sixties, (remember the crying indian?) we still tear down mountains to put up strip malls.
Besides, the federation would have had the klingon's respect a heck of a lot earlier if the first encounter between the two ended with the Federation ship beating the bejesus out of a klingon cruiser.
