Jedinet: Mark Hamill as the Joker? (http://www.jedinet.com/miscellaneous/#68477,20050618,7612)
It's just a rumor, but apparently many people favor Mark Hamill as the Joker in the next Batman live action movie, a sequel to Batman Begins.

Mark Hamill would be an awsome choice for the Joker. He's been the voice actor for the joker in alot of batman animated series and movies dating back to 1993 Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
Here's his IMDB profile, it's list all the batman series/movies he's done joker in:

Err...
Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson.... Mark Hamill?
Isn't that a bit of a step down?

He joins CRISPIN GLOVER and Aussie actor LACHY HULME on the three-strong internet shortlist.
What about these other guys?

I didn't know it was Mark Hamill playing joker on the batman animated series until I noticed his name in the credits one day. He get completely into the role and his work in that role is top quality. Couldn't even tell it was him by his voice even after seeing his name in the credits.
In my opinion it wouldn't be a step down to cast Mark Hamill as far as the acting is concerned.

...ummm Batman Begins is actually a bit of a prequel to the first Keaton Batman film.
Jack Nicholson already played the Joker.

I not to sure about Batman Begins being a prequel to the first Keaton Batman film.
I thought that in batman begins, they catch the guy that killed his parents, and then the guy is killed in the courthouse.

And also in the First Tim Burton movie, the police really didn't know about Batman. I would say that Batman Begins is more of a Remake
Even if Mark Hamill did play the Joker, he could just do the voice. It's been done before, I mean look at Darth Maul, played by Ray Park and voiced by Peter Serafinowicz (Fans of Spaced and Shawn of the Dead will know him).

I don't think I would want to see Mark Hammil as the Joker. I know he didnt he voice on the cartoon, but I can't see him playing Joker in real life.
They need a really good actor who can pull off the part. A number come to mind but I don't know if they would want to be involved.

Well, it's all in the auditions. They might see something in him. He can really pull off the insane act. And for once, the shadow of Luke Skywalker can work in his favor. Because for all practical purposes, whoever plays the Joker will be unfavorably compared to Jack Nicholson. Mark Hamill won't have to deal with that as much, the audience will be too busy being surprised at how un-Skywalker he acts. What an insane character he pulled off! :P

I've heard a rumor that Paul Bettany is in consideration. He was Russel Crowe's "friend" in A Beautiful Mind. I think that would be an inspired choice.

I think it would be great to see Mark in it, but reading the actors names you mention, I think Gary Oldman will do a great joker. He's just an very talented actor and the joker looks like a perfect character for him to portray. But definitely will love to see Mark in it. :D

Frag,
Paul would be a great choice. He's got the personality for it. He was also great in Master and Commander, and even Wimbledon, if you actually admit to watching this chick flick.

Batman Begins is a reboot of the Batman continuity.
In Burton's film, the Joker killed Batman's parents, while in BB, the movie goes back more to original comic book continuity and has Joe Chill kill them (though there may have been other versions of the tale in comics as well).
Mark Hamill indeed has voiced the Joker in many of the animated series Joker incarnations. He also player the "Trickster" in the Flash TV series, and voiced the Joker in the Birds of Prey pilot.
Much of the chatter about this is just rumor based on how much the fans love his voice work with the character. But the studio rumor is that it will be a "name only" actor.
WB has IMO screwed up many casting decisions by insisting that a big name play a part. Like the B5:TMoS fiasco, the Constantine casting (Neo as Constantine), and probably a few other casting blunders I forget. For some reason WB would rather pay big bucks for name recognition than to have a good story acted well by an unknown.
