Well folks, here is the rundown of the last few weeks....
When last we left our stalwart hero, Martok, he had been fired from Rockbox because his voice had been run into the ground.
Martok felt downtrodden, beaten, and worse for wear. He exiled himself from the Bourbon St. scene for two weeks to enjoy the simpler, finer things (Like going and seeing Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith--3 Times, and playing his favorite video and PC games...and of course, catching up on Battlestar Galactica.) :D
Last week, Martok went to the Eyes Ears Nose and Throat doctor, to make sure he did not suffer permanent damage from singing as loud as he was forced to. Such singing could've resulted in vocal nodules (or nodes for short). Thankfully, he received the word from the good EENT doc, that all was well, except for some minor irritation, and an acid burn on the throat caused by mild acid reflux. Also, Martok discovered (as he had suspected for a long time) that he had a slight hearing loss. Over all, Martok was given a clean bill of vocal health, and some advice on how to avoid/get rid of the acid scar.
Also, last week, Martok was invited to sing with a daytime band at the Famous Door on a Tuesday (where he played with Rockbox at nite). At first, at the discretion of the band's leader, Martok would only sing a couple of sets. The band, and the crowd loved Martok so much, that the bandleader asked him to come down and sing again the following day, for the same two sets. Martok did so, gleefully, and was paid well for his efforts.
Martok so enjoyed playing with the daytime band (called A.D.D. Band), and the band so enjoyed playing with Martok, that the bandleader asked Martok to come in for all three days next week, to sing three sets a day with A.D.D. Band. Also, Martok was told that he would most likely be picked to front a band that was going to fill in for Rockbox while they were gone to Scottsdale, AZ. Good news for Martok indeed....as it will put some decent money in his pocket.
The possibilities from this are that Martok may end up singing with A.D.D. Band for some time until a new band may be formed around him. The things Martok likes about singing with A.D.D. Band.
1. Classy tunes
2. Cute chick singer
3. Talented Jazz Pianist (who is bandleader, and music coordinator for three of the clubs down in Bourbon St.)
4. Good harmonies
5. Low stage volume conducive to Martok's voice.
Life be good...hopefully, life get better.
Thanks to everyone for their supportive words in my time of self-imposed exile from Bourbon St.
