What TV series (doesn't have to be recent and doesn't have to be sci-fi) did you really truly loved that lasted one season or less (besides you-know-what)?
For me, some of them were:
The Cape
Lyon's Den
the different series with Kyra Sedgwick, Joan Cusack, Alicia Silverstone and Bette Midler (I'm the only person who appreciated movie actresses doing sitcoms)
Grosse Point
LAX
Mary

Mrs. Columbo. Loved Kate Mulgrew as her.
That's the one that popped into my head.
Firefly would have to be my most recent disappointment of only 1 season.

yeah Jewels, Firefly is the most obvious one for me. Can't really think of any other ones except maybe some guilty pleasures, but those will never be admitted to in public. :D

Planet of the Apes
Ok, I know it gets a bad write up. But they showed the series on Sunday mornings over here when I was a teenager, and I was right into it! I still remember being outraged that it stopped abruptly after around10-12 episodes.
It may not have been American Sci-fi's greatest hour, but it did have Roddy McDowell. And Mark 'Sarek' Lenard as a gorilla!

I do. Although, a Medieval woman of the ruling class coming across as a bit of a feminist did stretch credulity just a bit.
I also liked The Young Rebels, back around ***** years ago.

One I can think of...
Gerry Anderson's 1970 SciFi series UFO.
The one thing about that one though, is that the Season 2 revamping became the genesis of Space:1999, but I still think of both as completely different series as they take place in different time frames. UFO took place in the somewhat futuristic version of 1980 and Space: 1999 obviously took place in the equally futuristic version of 1999.
I loved Sci Fi series back then, because even though they were only talking about 10 or 30 years into the future, their versions are much more fantastic than what we got in some cases.
Best,
Bryan

In addition to the obvious Firefly, I would add Wonderfalls. It was a strange, quirky show, but funny and well done.

Alien Nation and Beauty & the Beast come to mind, but I pretty sure they both made it past one series. Haven't seen either in a long while, and I miss them.
I LOVED Covington Cross and its on my must DVD list.. The few tapes I have are played to death.
UFO is another personal favourite: I had the books and the toys, as well.
The Phoenix is firmly in a guilty pleasures category. Loved it at the time, but its a bit embarassing now

Friday the 13th The Series, Not Sure though; it may have gone into its Second Season....
Hunting Down All those Curse Antiques was Pretty Interesting....
Now as For the EARTH 2 : I Personally Believe it Fell to What I Like to Call the "Clancey Brown CURSE"
it seems that whatever Movies Clancey Brown is in, they tend to BOMB at the Box Office, An Example of This: HIGHLANDER, SHOOT TO KILL... However, Once the Movies Leave the Box Office; and Become Available to Rent/Own... they Tend to Do Pretty Well....
Clancey Brown is a Fine Actor, I think he Plays a Wonderful Bad Guy!! :salute: ;)
Everytime I See Him though, I Still Have a Tendency to want to Check that my Katana is Close at Hand..... :wtf: :yikes:
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE...

I suggested this topic--and made my list--several weeks ago, and now have a new show to add to it. It's not science fiction, but I got hooked on UPN's Kevin Hill series. It just was cancelled, and of course the last episode was a cliffhanger. I seem to be haunted by unfinished series.

Another 1 Season or Less Show Was Voyagers NBC Early '80s I Believe... it was Stopped in Mid Season, after the Lead Actor Was Playing around on Set with a Gun & Accidently Shot Homself in the Head. :(
This Was Very Tragic... He Was a Very Promising Young Actor; I can't recall what his name was right off hand... as I was Still in my Early teens. :(

Jon Erik Hexum was his name. Actually, I think he shot himself on the set of a different television series (where he was some kind of mercenary). This was after Voyagers. The pistol was loaded with a blank, but even a blank to the head at point blank range can be lethal. A sad loss.

Yes, Hexum shot himself accidentally while doing a show called "Cover-Up" some 2-3 years after "Voyagers" one-season run ended.

Yeah, I Knew he Had accidently Shot himself, but Wasn't sure if it was on Set of Voyagers or what...
There was a Single Season (or Less) Show Where Rick Springfield played somekind of Bodyguard-Body Double... He Had these Really Cool SFX-Masks to ... I'm Thinking the Name of the Series was: DISGUISE ME or Something like that...

Another Show that Had Only a Year Runs Was: FX-THE SERIES This was Really Pretty Cool... I Believe it came out sometime During the Mid-'90s. The Orginal FX Movies were Put out During the Mid-to Late 80's.... The Series Was Stand Alone... Guess it just didn't "Click" with What the Networks were Looking For at the Time....
THE FLASH
Only 1 Season... Hmmm.... Just one of those things ... 1990
