Warrior Girl Drawing Finally rendered!
Hi Everyone! I finally finished (mostly) the drawing on the CF splashpage. I had originally planned on doing this finished shadding stuff but all the admining over and problems with CF put this girl on a back burner. But with the new calm and wonderful atmosphere of CF, AND the great work of our mods, I have been able to get back to her.
I hope you like it.
She isn't completely done. But the only changes I plan from now on are pretty slight.
I do have a question to ask, which do you like better? The finished render or the cartoony one on the CF splash page?

I liked the other one, but this one is gorgeous. If I were a guy I'd marry her!
You are a truly talented artist.

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate all the compliments!
if anyone is still checking out thisthread I was wondering if I could ask your advice on something.
Please check out this artist's work.
http://www.gamecritics.com/feature/a...ur2/page15.php
I am very inspired by the techniques this guy used. he is head and shoulders much better than me. But I was wondering, What parts of the drawing other people think I could learn from?
I'm thinking maybe I should drop the hard black line. And go for the thin very slight outlines. I also prefer this shading to what I have done.
Please if anyone has any criticisms, I would appreciate it!

Thomas I love your finished Warrior girl!
in reply to your question above you could dimish the hard black line...I don't understand what drip means?
but the shading looks fine to me, the other guys techniques is intense shading as if a spot light were on the chatacter, colours and shadows are intense, but I don't know that it woudl suit your warrior girl..

oops I meant drop not drip
I was just thinking which style is more attractive. That guy is one of the best of the best. His art sells games. But I was thinking about if I like the black line. I like it, but I was wondering how much others do.
its all a matter of taste I suppose.

Is it much work to remove the black line and let us compare the difference?
The reason his art sells and is used for games though is because it's spetacularly flashy looking! which is what you need in a game ...flashy and eye catching/ eye poping. If that is your goal to sell your work for games, and his work sells well, and hes considered the best then obviously imitating some of the techniques he employs that makes his designs so successful would be the logical thing to do. But everyonw has their own style of drawing I don't see all that big a difference between your work, different techniques but not necessarily better, I mean I love looking at paintings by Constable, but how would I even begin to compare them. Your anatomy looks good,I don't think his is any better than yours. I prefer the way you draw features, more warmth in the face, more depth of character.
take your warrior girl and dress her in something flashy and see what you come up with.
ok well that's my two cents worth Thomas

I still prefer yours, thomas. The other artist is very good, I like his use of shading, but your warrior girl is that fresh-faced girl next door that I would prefer to see in games. Of course, I'm not a guy, so I tend to prefer women with more clothes and more brains, they make better role models.

lol- Amber can have anything she wants, But her avatar is really cute.
Thanks UWW! I appreciate your support. I wasn't thinking so much of her sexuality, more just the style of rendering. But I'm happy that you would like this more! Sadly though... if this was for a game, I really would have to emphasize her breasts. Cause that sells. I remember getting nice but subdued comments on all the girls I drew. But draw one bimbo and BOOM the lust factor goes through the roof!
hormones.....

Really anything? You're too good to me Tom Thanks but I like seeing the Tos Actors each time I log on. Makes me feel at home..............but you never know I may change my mind. That drawing does make me think of Athena!
I'm not a professional artist, but here it goes>>>>>>>>>>>>
The other artist is good, but honestly I like your style better Tom! Your warrior girl is outstanding! If you want to change anything the black line could get smaller, but other than that I think she is great!

of course you can have anything! Course I know I can say that cause I know you wouldn't ask for something I can't give without pain. So I can open the gate wide open for you.
Thanks Amber for the compliments and the helpful criticism.

Beautiful!
Thomas, is there any chance of getting a high-quality poster from this drawing? I visit conventions quite often and it would be great to have people like Richard Hatch sign this piece of art. Also I was wondering if we could use the picture for our German BSG fan effort.

That's great news. I'll then go to a copy shop and have them make a digital print.

Hi thomas7g
she is smashing a thiner line would make a softer drawing if that is what you like
I would like the line of her chin to be thiner to soften her face which I always thought was Athena, if it was me drawing her I would thin the line by half and no more and as all have said she is BEAUTIFUL.
In Admiration

Thanks Potemkin!
I think you may be right about the thick line. I'm going to have to try a thinner line the next time I draw a character.
