For those who might need some additional background on the "Battlestar Galactica Technical Journal" (and what these images represent).
Back in 2000, Realm Press was slated to publish a limited series of technical manual-style comic books. As the book publishing license was under the ownership of Byron Preiss/iBooks, it wasn't possible to publish an actual book.
:colwar: Issue #1: The Galactica (and some of her fighter/support craft)
Issue #2: The Cylons/Adversaries (including the Eastern Alliance).
:colwar: Issue #3: The Rag Tag Fleet (including the Pegasus, post-Living Legend).
The Tech Journals were designed to showcase the BG universe 10 yahrens since the close of the 1978-79 show. They were an unofficial lead-in to the Richard Hatch universe, too. You can see things which are hinted at withint Richard's BG:The Second Coming trailer, such as the holographical displays, the shuttle transport, etc.
I had some direct involvement with Realm on the BG Techn Journal projects. I helped recruit both Mike McAdams and Ken Thomson, Jr. to the project; both turned in
phenomenal work, as you're seeing now. I also contributed to marketing and input on the books. (Unfortunately, it was over-marketed. People to this day are still wondering when it will ever surface or if it can be published through other channels!)
Only issue #1 was done. FYI: The text on Mike's images wasn't the planned text; the cover of #1 also included Ken's name (I assume Mike only kept his name on the image on his site as it's a showcase of his specific images, not his and Ken's.)
Both Mike and Ken were exceptionally professional and adept at delivering what they were asked to.
Realm Press ran into financial dires before the Tech Journals could be done. Only work on issue #1 was done, although both Ken and Mike were asked to participate on the entire series -- and I believe they had enough materials ready to do #2 right away.
With #3, the featurette of the Pegasus would have
rocked. (And, no, it didn't escape damage from the exploding Cylons basestars in "The Living Legend, Part II." You would have seen some theorizing of what happened.) There was also a separate side story which I penned as my writing debut, too, which would have tied into that BG Tech Journal Pegasus appearance and a regular issue of the Realm Press BG comic book series.
FYI: Realm Press never resurfaced; they became another company which didn't continue publishing BG. Universal's licensing costs were prohibitive and too damn costly, given comic book market conditions.
