Default Finished & revised Colonial laser...

Okay, this is my latest. Based on a LOT more research & trying for a good overall look as opposed to being true to a particular screen-used prop.

I'm selling a couple on Ebay, then the rest I keep!

My latest, best one is on eBay now, FYI.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/160704004710...84.m1555.l2649

I know I'm asking a lot, but you have no idea how many hours I worked on it (and neither do I- it took a month...)

That looks beautiful. I have an old resin version from about 20 years ago. A pretty good one, but has some wear and tear. Plus I think the handle is a little shorter than it should be.

I think that would be this one:

It was given to me last month to repair, but before I finished, my friend said to keep it since I was obviously MEANT to have it (he's a great & noble BSG fan)!! The handle is shorter, and wider (width I fixed), and the center line of the whole gun is a little off, but not by much. Absolutely amazing what that sculptor managed back then with photos & VHS only!!!!
It's the old Canadian AIM kit.

Surprisingly that's not it either. I'll have to take a pic and upload when I get a chance. The handle on mine is much shorter and does not have as curved a profile for the grip. Details are a bit different too. Some day I have to upgrade my blaster!

Now, if they were only working models, we could issue them to the troops...

Nice work on this.

I do have one observation, not on this prop in particular but on all of them. One thing I've always noted about all of the Colonial blaster props is that they always look like they just came out of the store. None of them are ever made with wear marks. The black isn't worn off anywhere to show the steel underneath. This is one of the things with Star Wars props that really makes them shine.

With Galactica, everything except the spaceship hulls remains pretty clean and free of blemishes.

I make 'em a little different every time, this one was supposed to be real clean, my next two will be used looking. You're right though, nearly all of them are too pristine.

Daddy wants.

But if Daddy bought, Daddy would die a slow death.

as far as metal showing on the lasers, it's possible that there was no metgal to shine through. The weapons could be a carbon fiber or polymer construction.

I know we all want to ignore Galactica 1980, but when Troy and Dillon were boarding that airplane to go to NYC, they talked about going through a metal detector with their (small) laser pistols. It was mentioned that they weren't metal but plastic.

you won't get the same worn look like you do on Star Wars blasters, but you can still dull them up.

But Very nicve looking laser my friend.

I also noticed a brownish or bronzish tinge on some lasers's edges in close up. My next one will reflect this.

the brown is from the holsters. All the holsters were black plastic PAINTED brown. as you holstered the lasers, you got paint transfer.
