Of ranks and things
OK, we all know that warriors' ranks roughly followthis order: Ensign, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Colonel and Commander.
Those warriors that fly fighter craft have the prefix Flight before their rank, and I suppose when they had a fleet, the Colonials had a Fleet Commander, and above him was the President of the Quorum of the Twelve.
But what about deckhands and the people who maintain the battlestar and the fleet?
What about Medtech's do they have classes?
Would anyone care to speculate?
Regards,
Peter

Good question, Peter.
Would there be a Medtech 1st class and a Medtech second class and a Medtech third class?

Yes, I think so.
Maybe the deckhands could have grades, Alpha being the highest (the equivalent of a Captain), Beta, Delta, Epsilon and Gamma.
In the G'80 episode The Space Croppers, a man dressed in a deckhand uniform comes to see Commander Adama with a complaint about the D Squadron, the man is adressed as Captain.

I should imagine there would be different ranks for different things. My late father was a BT Engineer, and althoug when he was actually in the field for only the first ten years or so of his BT he wound up working in a big office due to a quite serious back injury.
Anyway by the end of his career supervising in an office and sorting and routing calls via computer and what not he was the sergant of the office as in he ran it, so when he said everybody jump, 'There answer would be how high, but simple fact is. My dad was pretty laid back anyway, and most of the people he worked with knew their jobs.
But millitary ranks is not something that is just confined to the millitary from some of the things I have heard about most office blocks.

Mixed...
We also must remember that the ranks are mainly taken from the Navy (Ensign, Commander, etc.) BUT there are Army ranks mixed in as well. For example, Captain and Major are Army ranks and we see Apollo as a captain in his proper army rank leading a squadron (a naval captain on the other hand has a ship under his command).
By the way, was anyone ever addressed as a Major in the series???
