Get Firefox Now!!!
Right now there os a big marathon to get 1 million downloads of Firefox!
If you haven't heard of this, this is the GREAT alternative browser to Micro$oft's Internet Explorer. This is quite frankly leaps and bounds better than the microsoft browser. It has built in popup blocking and alot of other features to protect you. Its ALOT safer against malicious coding.
And what's REALLY great about it is that you don't have to delete or uninstall Internet Explorer. You can have both. You can even install a plug in so that you have th option to switch browsers on the fly! Say you are in Firefox looking at a site. You want for some reason to open a link in Internet Explorer. You CAN!!!! M$ would never give you that kind of feature, but Firefox can!!
AND ITS 100% FREE!!!!!!!!

Ten Days. One Million Downloads. Let's Get to Work!
Firefox, the ass-kicking Mozilla Web browser, is just out of beta with a "preview release." It's slim, it's fast, and it's feature-rich -- but can it possibly threaten the worldwide dominance of Microsoft's Internet Explorer? The brains behind spreadfirefox.com are taking a shot at it with a bold challenge: 1 million downloads of Firefox in 10 days.
Crazy? You Bet.
And That's Where You Come In.
Join The Screen Savers' Firefox Throwdown and download that sucker NOW. We've set up a special TSS referral link that'll let the world know that TSS viewers care about innovation and choice on the Web. By clicking the link below, you'll be whisked to the mozilla.org download page while your TSS referral will be tallied on spreadfirefox.com's Roll Call. Help make TSS the #1 referrer. We can do it, people!
Don't let The Man get you down.
Get Firefox NOW.

I downloaded it weeks ago, knowing that it was better and safer, but when I logged on I forgot that I couldn't access any of my hundreds of links in my Favorites. So I went back to IE and forgot that I have online back up and can automatically download my favorites into any browser in moments. D'oh!
I really should go back and use Firefox rather than IE.

there are lots of plug ins that work really nice! I like ieview which allows you to open a link in exporer from Firefox. I also really like "All in one gestures" which allows you to have shortcuts to commonly done tasks. Like when I want to open up a link in a new tab, I just use the right mouse button and drag upwards across a link. Boom. Instant tab with that page loaded.
14th- Firefox can import explorer bookmarks and passwords. Its easy! Its under FILE>>IMPORT.

I got my download. It's going to take some getting used to, but so far I like it. And it niftily transferred all of my bookmarks....and just in the last couple of seconds updated the icon in my bookmarks for this site.

My sis installed it (NeoPlanet version 2.1) on our PC about 5 years ago (but haven't used it much). It's a skin equipped browser/e-mail program combined (I think it kind of rides 'piggyback' on Internet Explorer), it apparently used to be quite popular with some. I checked at the website but it appears that it isn't available for download at the moment.

AH okay. Never heard of it myself. There are a couple of browsers I know are popular, IE, Firefox, Mozilla, Opera, and the old Netscape (which became Mozilla and Firefox)
FG- glad you like it.
Btw- there are some neat skins available. Just be careful the skin is for your version of Firefox. Since alot of skins are fan made, not all work well with all versions.
So has anyone got any complaints about this puppy? I think it works pretty well.

Only one complaint so far.
When I opened it tonight, there was never any address in the address bar, so that I was unable to use the back button. I had to right-click and open a link in a second window to get it. It's a bit of a nusance.

ah... I'm not sure exactly what you mean. But I assume you are talking about how Fleets is structured and not a Firefox problem right?

No, I could get to anywhere in my bookmarks, but there wass no address in the address bar, so I couldn't use my back-button to go back to where I had been before, like viewing a thread, then backing out of it. The little window that says "http:/www. etcetera" was blank until I opened a second windoe, then the second window had the address.
Tonight, however, it was fine.

Thats weird!
I'm glad you were able to fix it!
Btw- have you discovered tabbed browsing yet? Tommy likes that. You can do it with IE, but you need a hack. And i don't like adding hacks.

I haven't found a use for tabbed browsing.
What is the benefit?

I use it alot. Say I'm looking up a google search. I get a giant list of things to look at. I open about 5 or more items up in different tabs. This way while they load, I continue to read. Then when I know they have loaded, then I look. No waiting for it to load.
Or say you are reading something good, and find something else you want to read. Open it in a tab and keep it in the background until you are ready to read it.
And each firefox window can have its own tabs. So you can look up info on Apollo in one window with multiple tabs. And another windo with comparisons on Starbuck in another.
You don't need it. But it d=saves clutter of the tabs on the bottom of a M$ Windows screen.

Basically if you can read this webpage, you can use it.
Onepath, Glad you found something you like. Firefox and Opera are about equal. Its in how you like your browser. Opera is more feature laden. Firefox more customizable and smaller. Also Opera's base is more European. And Firefox is american.
