Doctor Who: The new Doctor is Christopher Eccleston
http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/doctorwho/...20/10073.shtml
If you visit the site's forum dedicated to the return of Doctor Who, you'll find a tempest about this casting that is EXTREMELY reminiscent of what we've gone through recently with BSG.
Personally, I think Eccleston is a great choice. It's funny to see so many Brits complaining that his accent is "too Northern" (i.e., Manchester) to play the Doctor.

Cool, thanks for the info. I don't know him but is great to know that we will see Dr. Who again. I really love it.

I love the Dr. Who series also and I can't blame anyone for being a bit leary
that Eccleston is playing Dr. Who. I think he 'might' make a good Dr. WHO .....
but only Time will tell.
I certainly believe the casting directors are taking a big risk on casting him.

Teaser
The new Doctor Who is one of the highlighs of the BBC's winter line up. And they have released a wee teaser trailer to whet our appetite!
Dr Who teaser
I could not get it to play right on my PC, but others might have more luck!
