Hey Peter!!
Good to see you on this thread again. Terri and I were wondering about you!
The pilot sculpt is definately coming along just fine, i'm being patient with it because it is so small, and I'm used tosculpting larger figures.
But, I'll try to post pics soon. I'll e-mail you and let you know!

The molds are coming along. Will e-mail you in the morning to talk about some issues.
Am off of the project for a day longer, as I have one more acrylic painting to complete for a long time customer on the west coast.
Will stay in touch with all on the board though. I'll check in tomorrow.

Just goes to show you how removed from the music scene I am. Wouldn't have known the difference even if you'd told me!

Randy Rhoads was and still is one of the most influential guitarists of our time. I celebrate his legacy and music, and post his image as an avatar because it reminds me not to take life for granted, nor our gifts that we have been given. In the twinkle of an eye, it can all end.

March 1982:

Associated Press

March 20, 1982, Leesburg, Fla. A small plane crashed into a
mansion here and burst into flames yesterday, killing the lead
guitarist of the Ozzy Osbourne rock group and two other people,
police said.

The crash killed guitarist Randall Rhoads, 25, the pilot of the
Beechcraft Bonanza - Andrew Aycock, 36 - and Rachel Youngblood,
58, the group's makeup artist and hairdresser. The plane's pilot
was also the group's bus driver. "He was a saint," Ozzy said, "He was an angel, and too good for this world. His death's always on my mind." Every year at the anniversary of his birth and death, fans from all over the world gather at his grave site to honor his passing. We will never forget him. His musical legacy lives on in the minds and music of his many fans.

Now, back to our ole' viper model thread!!

Default Back On Topic!!!

Tomorrow will begin entirely new updates and photos. We are about finished with the commission art pieces that have taken the time of a day or 3.
And are about to take a Lil' nap time, and get up and get back on it. The cockpit details will be covered tomorrow as well as begining pics of the pilot figure. Hang on till Fri Barry! I'll get ya some new stuff on this thread.
To finish the whole project and ship?
1. Making the mold for both cannons as soon as the materials arrive.
2. Finish the pilot figure.
3. Complete the instrumentation
4. Thruster nozzles
And you'l all have vipers being shipped. It's not really that much longer, just gonna take me some un-interupted time. I see the finish line and I can't wait to ship.

Do or do not. There is no try.

Do it right the first time and you won't need to go back and fix it.

I am patient. Patient #17-09-1978 @ NUT-R-US. When I get my weekend pass I'll come over and say "HIIIIIIIIIII".

Michael has been busy the past few days doing some commission work. I talked with him a couple days ago and he says he'll be back as soon as possible with lovely pics to pst.

-Gordon

P.S. Yes, we're all highly excited!

Thanks Gordon! That was a very kind statement from you. But today....I'm back on the fleets! And we are going to start of with a little work on the instrument panele detail on the cockpit piece. I'm right here at the computer if anyone has any questions or what-not, just reply here or p.m. me. The computer is here upstairs in the art room, so we can work here and be watchful of internet activity at all times.
Now, I'm heading downstairs to get some tea, and honey buns damnit! Now you medlin' kids just git now!

NEW UPDATE PIC!!!

Here is a pic of the instrument panel. It is not a smooth as it will be but you all need to know what's going on with your model!
I actuall am having problems getting real clear images of this piece, maybe my lighting, so I'll use natural light tomorrow and see if that's better.
But here it is.

Just a suggestion. As a model builder, I find the more angular gemetric stuff easier to build from hard materials like styrene card or prototype board instead of trying to sculpt straight lines with a soft medium at the outset.

Its all a matter of preference, of course you may find that you have no taste for that as a medium, but it's always been so much faster for me. That's why I recommend it.

That's exactly the way that it started, I mean with attempting to use card stock. But, it was waaay too much measuring and cutting, and although the pic does not show, all the angles are pretty sharp and clean. Better pics soon.

No..NEVER!!!
Just finished a long conversation with Tom testerday afternoon, and upon recieveing a couple of e-mails with (other) pics, I have some very "hush hush" changes to make. But will be following up with new images and construction info early this week. Your patience will be rewarded.
Oh, by the way, viper markings will be changed to some that Tom sent yesterday.
So the ones that was seen on my begining build-up are and idea that he liked, but i believe he wants me to go with the (more in TOS type) of markings that he prefers. So, he gets what he wants!!! And , you'll all be getting a more accurate marked ship, compareable to the vipers his Galactica will feature.
And (his) Galactica is coming! It will be so.
Talk to you all soon. And thanks for checking on me Barry!
