Default Celestia Software

I am glad I found this site, and after doing some reading in the forum realized that there was something some of you may find interesting.

There is a software package called Celestia, which is freeware. Available at http://www.shatters.net/celestia/

The interesting part of this software is that you can add 3d models into the package, as long as they are in .3ds format.

This would enable those who are interested, to actually place the Galactica Fleet into the galaxy.

Just a thought

I have downloaded this program following your suggestion in the above post and run it. Not sure how to use it until I have read up on it.

Nor am I quite sure what it does ?

Can I record flyby footage as video clips ? Include the fleet and I get short BSG video clips ? Something like that ?

Welcome to Fleets............

There are ways to record AVI movie sigments, also scripts can be written.

the best source for the addons are at the same page where you downloaded the software.

At present, I am working on a Galactica setup and one of my own creation.

Ok......will have to look into this more.......

It would be great to get a feeling of what this could bring to the Galactica fanbase.......by seeing a completed Galactica AVI.

Please will you make your Galactica creation public so we can see ? (Assistance with hosting available if required)

I plan to make the addon available to the users of celestia. I could also upload it here as well, with instructions on how to install the addon

However, I would like to know this, the addon can be done two ways, post colonial destruction and pre destruction.

or both.

I am working on .3ds models based on the artwork in the gallery. This would allow for the complete fleet to be displayed.

Bacho.....its great you've brought this to the BSG fanbase. Are you the creator of this program Celestia ?

Its great you'll make an addon available. I was asking in my above post, if you would make a Galactica AVI available to the public so we could see what a finished Galactica video clip would look like ?

I think Exodus, so post-colonial destruction, would be a great way to go.

Best of luck.....

By The Way............have you checked out any of the fanfilms on my website........www.battlestarfanfilms.com ? Do you think the end product of Celestia could be video, even if just short parts of....in AVI format.....that could be used towards BSG fanfilms ?

I have Celestia, and have downloaded various add-ons. I can never get any of them to work. Any suggestions?
