Hey Taranis, thanks for sharing your wonderful pic. I see your getting a hang of lightwave, keep up the good work.

As far as i know most of Steve's meshes have been converted to lightwave format.

...oye.

I've used a number of techniques for converting Steve's meshes. For some reason, his tS ones are hard to do. Geometry gets screwed up, surfaces get fubared.

If one way doesn't work, then I try another.

Most of the time, I have to actually re-surface the models. so I end up exporting his models in pieces.

3D Explorer will convert most formats, but has a hard time with his (might just be RAM issues for me)
When that fails, I use PolyTrans. And when that fails...
I export his models using the OBJ format exporter. Then convert from OBJ format to LWO format.

Every thing I have is here
http://www.firedragon.com/~cfleets/d...notforrel/?M=D

I wish I could find a better way to get out of SW to LW. I have a filter but those who tried it did not seem too happy with it so I have to go with STL to obj and it has some unwanted artifacts. Don how do they get from SW to LW at Zoic?

They don't. LOL.

Actually most of the time Steve everything is rebuilt. I really don't know of anything other than poly trans to convert SW to LW.

At the Con one of the guys from Zoic said they used SW maybe I was mistaken.
Did I send you the conversion that I did with the LW filter I got for SW?

The Defender, Protector etc should be at 3DG.

I'll check later today.

Don, as for space, there is a reason I have that location where Steve has his meshes...

Now if someone wants to upload the LW versions already done that has DSL....

Best way to add a nebula in "stills" is to use a background image.

That is, unles you have the objects (like the "G") *IN* the nebula.

Background image or rendered FX?

Background, just do a search for nebula in either Google or Yahoo's Image search.

If ya want the rendered FX, Lightwave makes use of Hypervoxels for that.

Hey Taranis, again you've outdone yourself. Its pretty cool that you can see the improvment with each new pic that you do. This latest one is much nicer than the earlier takes.
But the glow on the viper engines kind of make them seem much brighter than the galactica's. Shouldn't the G's enormous engines also have that? Probably even more intense than the viper's smaller ones.

I have that problem all the time.

Don, Darrell I uploaded a LW conversion of a basestar from SW
http://www.firedragon.com/~cfleets/d...notforrel/?M=D
It is huge but I was able to load it in LW6.5. If you LW pros want to DL it and see if it works maybe it is a way to get from SW to LW. I know the file size can be made smaller.

Battlestar Galactica 1978

Cylon base ship 47.8M is one big baby.. I will have to wait untill I have a few days for that wish list Broadband internet access.
Steve I take it that the RAR files are Lightwave???

I can start working on Dark Exodus with Lightwave then ... I seem to be able to do more with LW than TS in regards to setting up and rendering pictures..
