let's pretend that the only debate regarding the new Galactica involved vision and direction...recreating Starbuck as a woman, adding unnecessary gratuitous sex scenes, screwing up the Cylon origins, and having the colonials originate from Earth instead of Kobol. Throw in a Baltar motivated by lust rather than evil power greed, first names for everyone while changing other names to "callsigns", and removing Lucifer, Iblis, Cain, Ship Of Lights, and the whole basis of Good VS Evil on a universal scale. Let's also pretend that the debate also talked about some aspects the new Galactica actually may improve upon: the science, the effects, the omission of the Carillon sub plot, increased attention to the backstory. You'd have some interesting and heated debates existing RIGHT NOW heere at this forum, but it would be debates about the show.
Instead, thanks to a manufactured fan base and a production team that has lied to the fanbase, shown disrespect to teh fanbase, and for all intents and purposes otherwise ignored teh fanbase, you have Galactica fans left here posting why they will not watch it, and NO NEW FANS SUPPORTING IT.
In other words, by lying to the fans...those who kept Galactica alive for 25 years...with a manufactured fanbase (yes, ALL of the new Galactica supporters appear to have been the work of one or a few idiots with an agenda only the Galactica production staff know of), Universal/SciFi has guaranteed four hours of dead air come December.
How sad for us fans...how sad indeed.
