Default Original Viper escape system

Hello everybody, this is my first post! I'm currently 3d modelling an original Viper. I was thinking of doing some internal detail and I came across a pic on the web that made reference to an escape pod while pointing at the cockpit area. I was wondering if there is anything more concrete about this or will I just give my imagination free reign? Thanks for any guidance,

Cheers all!

That's in reference to the Galactica 1980 episode "The Return Of Starbuck". For the first time, we were shown the escape pod of a Colonial Viper. It was a piece of the close-up cockpit if I'm not mistaken, re-dressed with some underside detail to appear as though it had seperated itself from the rest of the Viper body and soft landed belly-down with parachutes.

They created that idea to facilitate the script requirements: Starbuck must safely arrive on a planet, but his Viper must be destroyed so he has no way off the planet until he scavenges the engines from a downed Cylon Raider. They propbably also didn't want to haul the entire Colonial Viper set piece out to the quarry where they shot the episode! From what I understand, it was VERY heavy and a pain to take on-location.

If you can get hold of a copy of that episode, they do some pretty good shots of it.

Thanks for the info Gordon. I was kinda thinking of doing a full interior at some stage in future. The model is coming along very nicely now. I have most of the surface detailing done at this stage and am going on to the landing gear next. I'll post a picture when I can.

Cheers.
