Depending on how much money we’re talking about my answer would be the same yet different. If I suddenly came into say under $150,000,000,000 from the lottery or whatever I’d do my ultimate Fan Film.
Mal’s smuggling operation has done real well. He has sort of franchised and bought three more firefly class ships run by their own crews who kick back to Mal a percentage. One of these crews is on the run from a deal gone bad…being chased. They suddenly and unexpectedly come across a massive warship with 220 civilian ships trailing behind. The chasers bug off leaving our firefly crew to make contact with the warship which just happened to be searching for Earth. The fleet of relentless mechanical beings, which have no interest in making babies, are chasing the warship and would get into a massive tangle with the Reavers. After the Reavers are completely slaughtered the Alliance quickly realizes they need to make a deal with our rouge heroes for help if they are going to survive the coming threat.
Now if I had over $150,000,000,000 I’d make the same film with some changes. I’d hire Nathan Fillion and the rest of the cast for the firefly being chased and Dirk Benedict to be commanding the war ship.
