Remembering the true Warrior spirit

After the past 24 hours I've thought long and hard about this fandom and how fractured it's become since Moore announced his mini.

Our love of the original series is why we're all here in the first place. On these boards, visiting the websites.

Now look back at the original series and it's characters and premise. You might be amazed at what you see. This is what I see...or better yet, would love to see.

I would like to think that this fandom is the Galactica itself. A strong fighting machine, housing Warriors who are always ready to stand united against the enemy. No matter how hard the fight for the Warriors of the Galactica, they always stood shoulder to shoulder, covering each other's backs, full of integrity and honor. They may have disagreed, but as true brothers in the common fight, they learned to compromise and accept the differences of opinion. They were like a family.

I know that there are differences of opinion here and they run the gamut. Some want to see the mini, and to them I say "go ahead it's your tv and your time". Some want Hatch's trailer to become reality. Some want to see a continuation come to fruition through other people. I'm sure there are others.

No matter what, we are not all going to agree. This past while the "Imperious Leader and Cylons" of the real world have gotten the better of us. And they're laughing. And winning.

The Galactica took her licks, but boy did she come back in style when it counted. Lately, we've all taken licks too, but the very sad part is they've been from each other. The Lords of Kobol are frowning down on us right now. Adama is rolling over in his grave.

I personally pledge to do the following for the betterment ( and preservation ) of this Galactica family:

1. I will stand united with my fellow warriors to preserve the honour and integrity of this Galactica family.

2. I will not belittle or bash a fellow warrior for having a different opinion. I must remember that we are in this together, fighting for the common goal, to preserve that honour and integrity.

3. I will turn my back on the enemy who comes forth to deliberately hurt this Galactica family. Negative energy does not mean we have to engage it. It does nothing but shake the foundation and crack it. We are all better than that. And stronger.

4. I will do my utmost to keep the true spirit of the original Galactica family alive and well. Let them be our champions, and let us be theirs.

For the record, I would like to stand up and applaud all of those Warriors who have dedicated their time, energies, monies, heart and soul into giving us these places to "unite as warriors". Without you all , the original Galactica would have faded away into the stars...

I would be interested to know what the criteria would have been, in the original Galactica universe, to become a Warrior.

I hope we have what it takes to be worthy, and make them proud.

Let's come back, united as we once were, in the true Warrior spirit.

Let's come back in style.
