Default Battle of Atlantia

Hey Everyone.

Got a little test rendering of WIP. Runtime 1:30

This is not all I got ready. But is a rough of the first minute.

YOUTube LINK

I know I was amazed at how good it looked at full view 1280x720HD on comp.
After learning some of depth of field made a huge difference. For a moment I thought it was in 3d :-) with newly rendered clips.

Also, on Mr. Kerin's Viper Cockpit. I added some animations to the textures of it.
Clip is not in this but I will give you a SS of it.

[IMG][/IMG]

Am only posting this here and maybe 1 or 2 other sites for feedback suggestions. IF you have any please do not hesitate

Also, Mr. TARANIS- I spent almost 3 hours assigning the textures to the Landing Bay, and went through each one-each channel and selection and it still tells me I am missing some. I can Imagine how much time and effort you spent creating it. I Thank You very much for sharing it. I did add some animated runway lights.

I hope this turns out well and you all enjoy it.

Sorry about it taking you so long to sort the textures .... its been a few years since I made it.

I don´t know why that is ..... it was made in lightwave and I think they are ok .?

But the animation look exciting and fun

plus its nice to see it been used (the landing bay that is)

Oh NP there. it is just most things seem to require reassignment in C4d.
maybe a better easier way that I am unaware. Even if something has been
UV mapped or wrapped sometimes they work and sometimes they still require assignment.
Besides I am learning as I go.

For instance, the Landing Bay- when I render it in editor as is np, but when I render it out, it needs the file locations.

Could be something am unaware of to globally assign or keep defaults.

This one I want to get deeper into emitters and pyros and(not ready for Thinking PArticles) and also try and do more chopping up and exploding things.

Though I have seen it is so much easier using some plugins in concert with Mograph.that I just cant shell out for right now.

More to come....stay tuned....Dont touch that dial... lol

It seems that the conversions between modeling programs usually loose some texturing and uv mapping. It happens with Max and Maya also, I think no 3d package is immune. Another frequent problem is re-triangulation of your poly's during conversion.
Some say that using Collada as a file type may solve a lot of these problems. I know it is a robust format for converting skinned character models with intact skeletons and vertex weighting. I've tried it with good results.
Just something to think about.
Also, your animation is looking real good

Got a little bit more done. Lil re-editing and added sound effects.
Few more clips added. Some explosions.

I only forgot to add some Particle Illusion to the last clip of 2 raiders biting the big one.Still having some trouble making exploding ships visible and more real or effective. Will have to get it right when I do the Death Squadron.

Would like to add some sort of Characters or pilots. Am very limited in this respect in knowledge/resource. Had a Preset Human in C4d that I had gotten rigged (basically) , but it was lost in December. Will have to redo at some point so I at least have one human model I can somewhat control.no facials or anything ( I wish) but at least a movable mesh.

Also am trying to work in some of the Cylon and Imp. Leader Voice clips
I do have somehow at some point.Maybe am spoiling it by posting so soon an update. :-)

Hopefully it will get more intense.

well, might as well add another minute since it is up.

Am taking a breather from this for a spell. Am trying to create that which I cannot create LOL at least not yet. or make it believable.
another Idea I want to try-

Make a Cylon Dance? can it be done? Not by me, but I am going to try with what little I know. That ought to be funny.Especially using a poser model in C4d. Need to scan and scope out some things.

Here is updated-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1ios...layer_embedded

It is not perfect. But I gain more experience with every lil bit I tinker and tinker with.

not at all. I can add and change things pretty easily in future scenes.
IF you would like to see it in next update , provide link or Download I can add it. I used D. Kerins landing gear and the redone cockpit and put them on H.Gibbens Viper in bout an hour. Hybrid cannibalization lol.

I can use 3ds,lwo,.obj,.c4d files that I know of.
3ds requires a longer time to load up and convert but can.

Am on recess atm , am making a cylon video with MJ tune. Just want to try and animate the IPP model C4d since my attempts at rigging again are that, attempts lol. Am getting carried away with creating the scene.

I thought of trying to mimic "The Dance" but am sure I will fail, Who else tries that on 1 of their first go rounds at animating a char?

Gotsit Thanks.

Hope I do not lose it like so many other things in recent months.

Like that other post on Manual, I have had to find places and guess at placement of Weapons-turrets-

one of the things in the show I never could tell where they were firing from.
I am not trying to be accurate - just make a good video :-)

Now I will have to make a new clip to shoot the gun LOL

weell I made another one.

(-since one guy thinks it looks like Win95 game-)
no not really why.

1st one had the particle TM-(transfer MAtrix) applied but the rotation was 0.
Which resulted in the static puffs.

is also my first try at compositing in AE without using the composite
or multipass stuff which I know nothing of yet. This one has gotten more votes so far.whole clip has the bay entry of Raider.

Am not moving ahead as fast as before on this. Was Anxious as hell to make a flick of BSG and also making what I thought would be a quick

Am still working on part 2.

here are some pics of text titles- for use in animation of opening.

Love that theme so much it has to be in this one too. But am really taking my time to make a much better (hopefully) looking short.

Would like some feedback on these if you please.

any combo or variation...?

Thanks for the comments. from here to there they have been varied.

A teaser.

Here is a SS of a clip am rendering now. Is of a Cylon Raider getting blasted by vipers after the Landing Bay attack.

I must say I hope the whole Animation looks as good.

Full Screen HD CGI Cinematic

Well, without being able to do voices, or having voice takes, I do not know what else to do with BSG.
But this is as cinematic as I can make it at this time. Am lost as to what to do next.

Looks Really Reallly good FULL screen on Comp, dam near theatre/cinema. Welp, here it is.
is short, but I spent a lot more time on making scenes. But it still lacks.

Am just not good enough at all the aspects needed to make a good CGI short.

not bad ....... you have skill at that I don´t ........

Editing could be looked at ,,,, one of the most difficult parts in filming I think
you can see the models stopping before the next scene or explosion ..

but you have gotten some great motions of the ships in there ... I liked the roll of the raiders ... that looked sweet ..

If I'm not mistaken the .FBX format is supposed to fix most or all of those issues.

For apps that don't support .fbx I have found the wavefront .obj format to work quite well.

Queenhunter, is that the centurion mesh from the downloads section?

Nicely done btw.
